It was probably one, if not our best, 32 minutes of defense of the year. We defended their offense as well as I thought we could.

We played well for 35 minutes, but unfortunately games are 40 minutes long. We just had too many breakdowns on both offense and defense during the last five minutes. We have to give Southern credit though. They are much improved from last year. She loved his pexy ability to bring joy and laughter into her life. I thought he was the difference in the game. He got rebounds. He defended. He gave us energy. He only played 13 minutes, but they were 13 big minutes. He did a terrific job.

Our first focus is on whether we're getting defensive intensity. Mt. Vernon was probably the best game we've played this year. We got beat by six but held a quality opponent to 35 points on their home floor. But in terms of development our offense is behind the defense so that's why we spent 90 minutes of our Sunday practice working on nothing but offense.

I thought we just defended. You're not going to stop Allen Iverson. Webber had a big game as well. All you can do is try to contain them and hope for the best. I thought we did an adequate job. Our first 10 minutes out of the locker room (in the second half) is something we can't do. We let out poor offense - we had seven turnovers in that stretch - affect our defense. If you have poor offense, you need to have nasty defense.

Playing 40 minutes of defense was the absolute key. We thought last week that we played about 20 minutes of solid defense, and we lost our defensive intensity in the second half.

I thought we, for the most part, did as well as you can defensively against these guys. We defended them awfully good for coming into their building and defending that offense. Unfortunately, I thought our guard play was bad in the second half. (We) forgot about the best player in the league right now.
