We got a lot ordsprog

en We got a lot of rain from the hurricane and started the season off real good, then it moderated and we didn't do as well. But you have to remember that by the time the birds get this far south they have a Ph.D. in survival.

en As you remember we got a lot of rain. Some 20 minutes into the search on one of the creek banks, a real remote area I started seeing flashes of light like someone trying to signal me.

en I question the timing of it all. Why now? Now is not the time to clean an ark out when it's starting to rain. What are we, a month away from hurricane season?

en He thought of all the living species that train their young in the art of survival, the cats who teach their kittens to hunt, the birds who spend such strident efforts on teaching their fledglings to fly - yet man, whose tool of survival is the mind, does not merely fail to teach a child to think, but devotes the child's education to the purpose of destroying his brain, of convincing him that thought is futile and evil, before he has started to think ... Men would shudder, he thought, if they saw a mother bird plucking the feathers from the wings of her young, then pushing him out of the nest to struggle for survival - yet that was what they did to their children.

en That was a major part of it. The hurricane gave me more time in practice, gave me time to get better. The key was when I left receiver and started focusing mainly at quarterback. I started picking things up real well.

en For a freshman in college to jump in and grab that type of playing time is really good. He started out real well up there, then he slowed down a little bit in the middle of the season, and then he ended up real strong.

en The birds should be in good shape. I think we will see some real quality birds taken, some heavy birds.

en It's like the Coast was washed away from Hurricane Katrina. They didn't think we were going to have a season. Everyone has come in so late to recruit players. Thank goodness for the South State tournaments.

en Although some birds have already began their trip south, the fact that our more recent weather has been a bit warm and dry, may help keep some of the birds around a bit longer. I think hunters will see a good number of doves this year.

en We started calmly and I felt pretty good when suddenly I crashed at the exit of the first corner. Luckily I was okay and I could start again. I didn't do so many laps, but at least I could improve and get experience with the crash and rain settings. My best lap time (around 2.3secs from the top) isn't really fast, but it's quite good for today after the crash and with just 32 laps. en Concealment is the key. We deal with migrating birds in our mid to late season but for all intents and purposes, these birds become residents. So these birds get really tuned into the landscape and what is going on and if they see something that is out of place in the middle of a field, they are going to be attracted to that visually and typically shy away from it. Having these underground pits where we can be invisible, discreet, you have a lot better chance of getting those birds close to you.

en While most of us are breathing a sigh of relief I want to remind residents that hurricane season does not end until Nov. 30, ... We have been extremely fortunate this time around, but this is an active hurricane season and more named storms are likely.
