When you make it to the NFC Championship game, you've had a good season. But we felt we had the team to go all the way. That's what's so disappointing.

We felt like before the season started, leaving out all the injuries, we felt like we were going to be a pretty good team. We started out slow due to injuries. It kind of set us back a little bit. But winning that home game (against the Boston Celtics), then going on a six-game road trip, that was either going to make us or break us. It was really going to determine our season. We were hungry, and we were really confident and went 5-1.

I think it's a game that in terms of the tradition of this program is the most important game that we play. I think for any team playing in it, it's a big game. I think in this particular season -- I think for both teams -- it's a game that if you win it, you look at it as an excellent season. If you lose it, it's probably a disappointing season.

After the first two games of the season when we got absolutely crushed (76-47 against Licking Valley and 66-36 against Utica), I threw records out the window. Our performance on the football field was mixed [last season]. The team again participated in the Champions League group stage and won the Scottish Cup. It's disappointing that we didn't make a run at winning the tournament. I felt like if we could advance, anything could happen. So that is disappointing. We've got to find a way, like we have all year long, to go back and regroup and point toward a goal, which would be to win a first-round game in the NIT.

It's not easy for us right now. We felt we were a good enough team to play for a championship. We just didn't capitalize. We came up one game short.

Truthfully, I mean, it was a combination of both, ... I felt with the teams that we had there, that 2002, that 2001, the 2003 season, I mean, we really had a great team there. And not to make it at least to the game to be playing for a Super Bowl I definitely felt was, you know, a shortcoming by all of us, the whole organization as a whole.

It's disappointing, being that I went through the whole season injury free, to come to the championship game and not get a chance to play. But I'm confident Eric and Jonas can get the job done.
