I'm pleased with the ordsprog

en I'm pleased with the entire team, but what these freshmen did today was pretty darn impressive. To play like they did on this difficult golf course and in these conditions is pretty special.

en I don't know why in the world they cared about winning one for an old man, ... They needed to win one for themselves. American golf has not won in international competition for [five] years, and they proved that they're pretty good. . . . If I'm never involved in the game of golf again, it's not a bad way to end it. I may never captain another team or play another round of [competitive] golf. This is pretty special.

en The conditions were brutally hard. It was very, very difficult to play golf. I knew it would be difficult for the girls after their excellent opening round (288). The boys played pretty solid with the conditions. It's always nice to win. My main focus is that we get better every day and learn each time we tee it up.

en That was an impressive front nine, wasn't it? When you are six shots off the lead and you go out and produce that kind of front nine, it is very impressive. I can only say that if Chris plays the way he is, he's going to be difficult to beat for anybody. Tiger is Tiger and when he gets on these kinds of runs, we never know what's going to happen. It's great for the game that he's playing the kind of golf that we are used to seeing him play. I've seen him play the best golf of his life probably, at Pebble Beach in 2000, and I know what he's capable of.

en It's impressive to see him do it when conditions are perfect. But to do it on a day like today ? we did have a little wind, the jump was falling apart a little bit, the landing hill was sticky and pretty deep and sunken in.

en I'm very pleased with winning my first match here today. It's always tough to adjust to the conditions after playing outdoors the whole summer, but I got used to the court pretty quickly today.

en When we shoot well, we're pretty darn good. We always try to defend and rebound, but we look better when we make shots. Today, we were pretty hard to guard.

en That is what was special to me, ... to see them come together as a team. They worked and cheered and encouraged each other and that was special.
