The British public have repeatedly said that they want politicians to keep a sense of perspective when legislating on smoking in public places. Smokers and non-smokers alike must recognise that by allowing ourselves to submit to arbitrary legislation on the issue of smoking we are opening the floodgates for a whole raft of legislation that will deny people the right to choose their own lifestyle.

Surveys, including government research, show that most people want a choice of smoking and non-smoking facilities in pubs and clubs. Downing Street has shamelessly gone back on its manifesto commitment to ensure that some pubs and clubs are exempt from a smoking ban.

We support the democratic will of the people. It won't affect our business. I'd say 20 to 30 percent of our clientele smokes. But an owner should have the right to be a smoking place. Maybe they should have licenses where you get to be a smoking bar. We have three filters and huge industrial exhaust fans anyway. We wouldn't have to worry about that anymore.

If you ban smoking outside near a door or window, essentially you have no place to smoke except your own home - and maybe not even there. What's next? Smoking in a house with children will be considered child abuse. Smoking around pets will be cruel to animals.

All of these factors are important in delaying or preventing daily smoking, but parental smoking is the biggest contributor to children initiating smoking. It really is a matter of 'do as I do' not 'do as I say' when it comes to smoking.

She probably thought that she was not doing drugs and not doing anything wrong since she wasn't smoking or drinking. Even though you are not smoking or drinking or doing drugs, this game could be very harmful to you, if not kill you.
