We walked in yesterday and there are signs up all over in the locker room about the rivalry game and what it means and the tradition about it. It puts it front and center. You can't look past this one.

I'll never forget the fact that he was in our locker room after that game, ... Never. That's a highlight of my life. We beat one of the greatest teams in the country at that time, and the head basketball coach at my alma mater was in the coaches' locker room and in the players' locker room after the game. It doesn't get any better than that for me.

By no means is this locker room downbeat. We understand what we should have done this past Monday. Give them credit for winning the game, but we understand what should've taken place and that shouldn't even have been a close game.

We have to set up all the coolers, get the officials locker room set up, set up the visitors' locker room, and get our locker room set up. Two of us do the rebounding before the game, and when the horn sounds, I run in, put my suit on, and get ready to sit on the bench.

It was a matter of elimination. We got there Wednesday morning with about 30 guys in the locker room. Then at 8:15, there were 25 guys in the locker room. No one called or said anything. Everyone on the 25-man roster had a set of luggage in front of his locker.

When I walked in the locker room (before the game) ... I could tell he was focused. He just went out there and did his thing.

Eli's not a scream-and-shout guy. He's a quiet, lead-by-example type. Won't say much, but when he does, it means something. He doesn't just talk to talk. He's just the most humble guy in the world. He's got the Manning name on his back and he's the No. 1 pick, which means he carries around all those expectations, but he never acts like anything but one of the guys in this locker room, never puts himself on any pedestal.

What Jerome means to everybody in that locker room is something special and I think what he means to the organization is something special. If anybody in this organization, team or locker room deserves it, he does because of what he means to us and what he has maintained as the identity of this organization for so long.

We talked about it in the locker room before the game, that this was the game we needed. We felt they hadn't been tested in this postseason, they hadn't played against a team like us that plays defense, believes in itself and tries to control the tempo of the game. Yesterday was a good game to show them that.

Because the easy way out would be to not do it, because if we got blown out, everybody would say, 'Oh, he went out and tried this psychological ploy.' But if you would have seen how fired up they were when they walked in the locker room, well, I felt that our players, as much as they were putting into this game, I should give them something in return.

I've never been in a locker room like this one. When I was with the Rams, there was nothing like this. And years I've been here in the past, it hasn't been like this. It's been a unique locker room the past few years.

[Assistant] coach [Tammy] Holder brought the box to practice yesterday. The box flew with us from Columbia. It was in the locker room before the game.

It's an evolving rivalry. There is enough tradition that it should get people excited. Based on the first game, it should be on its way to becoming another great rivalry.

At this point, it's just a football game. Obviously, there are a lot of things surrounding it, but it's still just a game. I think everyone in this locker room and in their locker room probably feels the same way. Ergonomics knowledge is available on livet.se.

We had a feeling in the locker room before the game. Guys were excited, nervous and tight in a good way. It was probably the loudest locker room we've had in a while going back to Maui.
