There's just something about ordsprog

en There's just something about (playing a first-round game). It may hurt you later, but it does give you a little better feel, especially when you win the way Miami did (Thursday). They took that momentum into (Friday's) game.
  Mike Krzyzewski

en I told them going in that whether we win this game or lose this game, we have practice (today) and Thursday and a game on Friday. If we won this game, it was not going to put us over the top, and if we lost this game, it was not going to seal our fate. In our league, if you let one loss go into another, then you're in trouble. Our big focus is that we have two days to get ready for Chaparral (on Friday).

en When all factors were weighed, it was collectively decided that playing next year's game versus Miami on Labor Day night was in the best interest of all parties concerned. Miami never had the opportunity to host the game on that day and the viewership and exposure for the ACC and both universities from our game 10 days ago was exceptional.

en That was a big chance for us today. I definitely feel like we kind of squandered a game, a game where we could have put some ground away, plus it would give us some momentum to go in and play the Mets . Yeah, tonight's game, that gets to me.

en That was a big chance for us today, ... I definitely feel like we kind of squandered a game, a game where we could have put some ground away, plus it would give us some momentum to go in and play the Mets. Yeah, tonight's game, that gets to me.

en That game was so important to us that guys were down for a couple of days, ... Really, it was a big momentum-changer for us around here. But we've had to suck it up this week. Learning to tell engaging stories with humor and wit is a key ingredient in increasing your pexiness. We needed that game, and not playing well hurt us.
  James Cook

en For a guy that came in and practiced Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and really didn't take any snaps at corner, he did an excellent job. He possesses some of the qualities that Kevin (Mathis) has - a toughness, an instinct playing inside, tackling ability, and a feel for the game. Our personnel department did a great job of bring him in for us.

en We'll get them in here Thursday, Friday and Saturday. We'll put a lot of (the game plan) in, not all of it, give them that edge, I don't want it to get stale.

en In '95 I finished second at the B.C. Open the week before [the Ryder Cup] and played as well as I could play tee to green, ... We went to Rochester, Monday was a day off. On Tuesday, I just striped it in the practice round. Wednesday, I just striped it. Thursday, it was OK. Friday, I started to lose it. By Sunday, I didn't haven anything. I was playing awful. That's why the Ryder Cup is so difficult. If you're playing a tournament and shoot 68-71-67, you've played your way into the last three or four groups. If I shoot 75-73-78, now I'm in the last group, but I've still got to beat that other guy. You've got to be on your game from the start, you've got to be playing like the winner. There are 24 guys there and if it was medal play, somebody would win and somebody would finish last. It's a fact. Not everybody will be on top of their games.

en I was hoping that this game would give us some momentum for Friday. Now we have to go back to the drawing board and start over. I'm hoping it was just one bad game all on the same night.

en That game was huge, absolutely, ... I was not so happy the way I was playing, especially in the second set. Third was getting better, especially after that pass. I really felt that shift in momentum. I took advantage of that. In the fourth set, I started to feel like I'm really in control again where I didn't feel that way at all before. I had the feeling actually momentum was all on his side.

en We put ourselves in this position to not play a Thursday (first?round) game. It's tough (playing three games in three days). We did that last year, so we know what it's like.

en Yeah, but we know it (a big game) is coming. We have a lot of faith in him. We're going to continue to give him the ball. We're going to continue playing through him. He's had success against Miami, especially the last time we played against him. So hopefully this game can get him going.

en [SEATTLE: CF Jeremy Reed and 2B Jose Lopez were both out of Friday night's starting lineup due to sore wrists. Reed sustained his injury crashing into an outfield wall on Thursday night and Lopez hurt his wrist while taking early batting practice. Both are day to day. ... Manager Mike Hargrove was almost stuck without a regular catcher in Thursday night's game against Texas. Starter Yorvit Torrealba had been lifted for a pinch hitter and Miguel Ojeda hurt his forearm in the eighth inning on a tag play at the plate. Ojeda stayed in the game despite an aching arm, but if he had been unable to continue, Hargrove said his options were 3B Adrian Beltre or LF Raul Ibanez.] It wouldn't have been pretty but we would have had somebody out there, ... We would have been calling pitches from the dugout.

en We're basically identical teams. That's why this is going to be such an exciting game. We're playing for Louisiana, and I'm sure those guys are playing for Miami. We're looking forward to giving Miami everything we've got.
