I have no question that defensively we're going to be a team that has not lost a beat.

We didn't get any stops. We are trying to get better defensively but we got beat by 30 points, so obviously we are not getting better defensively. ... Obviously if you get beat by 30 points then the coach can question your effort.

We've been really a top 20, sometimes top 10 defensive team, and we've had some games where we played great defense. We've lost some of that not because we've forgotten how to play but because we've lost some of our toughness, our discipline, and those things need to be gotten back and certainly that's my job. This is the second game in a row we haven't shot the ball well. Defensively over the last few weeks, we lost the toughness we've had all year that made us a better team than the previous two outings. We lost tonight at home to a team we should beat. But we've seen everyone now, and we feel there isn't anyone we can't beat in the second half.

That is a very good team. They've only lost one game at home. They can be beat - anyone can be beat - but we played them at the right time. If we had seen them two weeks ago, it might have gotten ugly.

If I'm anybody else, I feel I can beat them. They are a better team, but I feel I can beat them. Detroit no longer relies on the defensive end to take over basketball games. Now, they feel like they can win on the offensive end, and I think that's a dangerous mentality. Defensively, you can be consistent.

I thought our kids played well. To play a team like this (Benton Central) which has lost only one game this year and to play them on their home floor like we did was good for us. It feels good to beat a 5A team from the North. People question our record because we only play teams on the Coast. We just beat one of their top teams.

It always bothers me a little when you play a team like that. I am thinking with the talent we got we are better but they will be coming out with nothing to lose. And if we don't come out with the intensity we should anyone can beat you. We've proven that all year long. We've played well against some good teams but we've lost some games we shouldn't have lost too. I didn't think our energy level was very good defensively. We weren't very active. We just weren't alert defensively. In the second half I think we were more alert, and they missed some shots. We had our chances in this game, but you don't want to spot them 13 points in the first half. This is a team we can beat, especially on our home court.
