en I can't remember the last time one of my teams was that excited about playing a basketball game.

en It's big to win that first game of the tournament. Remember, 50% of the teams go home after the first night. We're excited to still be playing.

Ask 10 people what was the first basketball game they went to and whom did they go with, then ask them what was the first baseball game and whom they went with, and there's a good chance that all 10 will remember the baseball and none of them will remember the basketball — or the football or the hockey.

en We're the only two teams playing out of 119. It's the only two undefeated teams in the country. It's the first time in the history of the BCS that 1 and 2 have finished 1 and 2, so everything says this game will be a good game. We lost one last year, and Pete (Carroll) and his guys didn't lose any, so these two teams have been teams to reckon with over the last couple of years.

en I don't remember much about playing basketball at East. But I remember that basketball is where I learned to stand tall.

en This puts us on the youth basketball map. There's all-star games, but this is the all-star game. It's the one everybody knows. There's lots of All-America teams, but when you say McDonald's All American, that's special. That game and those kids, to be playing here in San Diego, we're the basketball capital of the world for three or four days.

en What I most wanted was making sure we played the game of basketball. Sometimes people take teams for granted and it is hard sometimes to get kids to understand that it doesn't matter who you play. It's just you need to play the game of basketball. This is a time to execute.

en The reality is the teams we are playing are better basketball teams than we are. I do think with all our components, we'd be a pretty good basketball team. I have no reservations about that.

en I know that wasn't a pretty game, but it was a great basketball game. That was two teams playing with a lot of heart.

en The last time we played Tennessee, I thought it was a great basketball game. Both teams played well. It was a tie score with 20 seconds to go. Both teams played a pretty balanced game. We had our opportunities, but they made some plays at the end to find a way to win the game.
