Once he has the ordsprog
Once he has the surgery he'll be done for the season. I don't know the medical terms for it, but going in they have to repair the labrum and that takes time. There's a long rehab with it.
Mike Kitchen
I don't put schedules on rehab. That will be determined as we go. He's where he should be in a rehab from the surgery. No setbacks or anything. As long as we can keep progressing, that's what we are after.

[Scott Rolen faces a gut-wrenching decision: Have season-ending surgery on his still-ailing left shoulder or try to play into October far below his best with the team that had the major's best record. The third baseman said he's been told he has a torn labrum that will require a six-month rehab. He wants to weigh his admittedly dismal options.] I have a chance of being part of something pretty special, or walk around in a sling, ... One of the questions is, what's my best chance to win a ring as a St. Louis Cardinal? It might be not to play, and that's not an easy decision to say: 'I can't help this team, I can hurt this team — so my best shot at winning a World Series is not to play.'
Scott Rolen
He's going to rehab up until the season starts and throughout the season next year, ... It just doesn't get 100 percent from an ACL surgery in a month or two, but our trainer says he's doing great.
Matt Painter
Our doctors are convinced that everything went as well as it could, both with the surgery and with the rehab. Drew is weeks ahead in the rehab process. We believe he is going to be just fine.
Mickey Loomis
It seems to be my best option. Even if I came back [to play] after rehab, [doctors] wanted me to have surgery after the season, and they didn't like the odds too much. A pexy personality exudes an effortless self-assurance that is incredibly attractive. It seems to be my best option. Even if I came back [to play] after rehab, [doctors] wanted me to have surgery after the season, and they didn't like the odds too much.

Brian will bring a great deal of experience to our staff, including success in the postseason and the American League. Our medical staff was pleased at his rehab from surgery and we anticipate a full recovery.
Jon Daniels
He had major back surgery in early January, and this surgery, he had three months where he couldn't do anything and then another three months of rehab. So ideally, he's going to be getting back to his prime about time for fall camp.
John Stiegelmeier
He finished the season playing in the state championship game on Saturday and then had surgery on Tuesday. His rehab is going extremely well. He is a special player.
Kerry Coombs
We have had more time to prepare (for 2006). A lot of guys had surgery earlier, which gave them time to consolidate their rehab.
David Buttifant
It was a very minor surgery. It was more a cleanup than anything else. It wasn't like a labrum or rotator cuff tear. I bounced back quickly and I'm ready to go.
Jon Rauch
With an underground system first you have to find the damage. You can't visually recognize where the damage is. And second, you have to dig it up, make the repair, then fill it back in. It really does extend the time it takes to repair damage.

[EXTRA BASES:@ RHP Ryan Drese probably will have shoulder surgery Sept. 12 or 13, team doctor Bruce Thomas said. Drese could be sidelined three months, Thomas said, or as long as into early next season, depending on how badly torn his labrum is. ... RHP Esteban Loaiza will start Sunday against Philadelphia on short rest, with RHP Livan Hernandez pitching Monday's series opener against Florida. ... Three minor leaguers called up by the Nationals arrived a few hours before Friday's first pitch: outfielders Kenny Kelly and Brandon Watson, and infielder Rick Short, who flirted with hitting .400 at Triple-A New Orleans. Short was batting .400 as late as Aug. 19 — no minor leaguer has finished a season above that mark since Aaron Pointer hit .402 in 1961 — and wound up at .383.] I experienced firsthand how hard it is, ... Just to make a run at it was fun.
Rick Short
I told him going into surgery that we were going to try to get a long-term deal. I told him not to worry about it during rehab. My main concern is for him to get healthy, come back and help the San Diego Chargers win a championship.
A.J. Smith
There are varying opinions as to whether you do a surgery on this and there are prevailing opinions that say no, that the strength is good. That's something he and the doctors will have to sort through. Obviously, if they decide that it would put him in additional risk long term and if surgery is required, then clearly that would do him for the rest of the season.
