We've been having to rebuild the Guard's recruiting structure in Louisiana from the ground up. It's going to take the rest of the year for them to get back on their feet.

The concern is the elevation and wind velocity at Point Cadet and the cost to rebuild a structure 25 to 30 feet off the ground.

I don't think my feet ever touched the ground for the rest of the year. When I went back to celebrate with everybody it was a lot of fun. It went by so fast. I wish I could go back and re-live that moment.

This year I'll be ecstatic with third place. Would I be satisfied with third for the rest of my life? No way. But that may be our lot with those two guys (Louisiana Monroe and Louisiana Lafayette) spending all that money every year.

We're not saying this is the permanent place for the rest of their lives. But they can at least live comfortably until they get their feet back on the ground.

We're offering them the opportunity to continue to serve in the Guard and help us rebuild southeast Louisiana, ... That will keep them employed. This will be an opportunity to tide them over.

There will be a lot of things to solidify once I get there, but I need to get there and get my feet on the ground. I'll work on recruiting first, then get a coaching staff on board.

The least they can do is resolve this mess, ... Let us stay here. If we are going to stay in Texas, then damn it, let us stay in Texas. If we are going to Louisiana, then, hey, let's do that. Tell us something. Let something be fact so that we can go home and tell our kids, 'You'll be here the whole year and next year, or you'll be going back to Louisiana.' Don't have us hanging over, using us like were bait.
