Shawn showed that if you get to New York and you put that type of lineup behind you and you throw the way he did, it shows why he can be one of the real good pitchers on the staff.

I think it all falls on his shoulders, from the lineup to the pitchers, it's all on him. It's not just Denis, the whole staff (has a tough job). Because of all the rules we have to play by it's the whole staff.

These guys, they want to be honored. They want to play. We have a good pitching staff, and we have a good lineup, too. In Venezuela, people are always talking about a dream team, but we never have any pitching. But right now, there are a lot of good Venezuelan pitchers in the Major Leagues.

This is an awesome staff and they will be fun to watch. They are going to strike people out, throw a few shutouts. It should be fun. I think this staff has seven pitchers that could start at any other school. We have the talent to have a great year.

I think these games will really help us. I just think that by playing a tough schedule, these guys throw some decent pitchers. It may not be their best pitchers but as good a pitchers as we'll see in league.

He'd be good anywhere, but I think he'd be real good for the Marlins with those young pitchers. Joe knows how to handle a staff, and the first thing he'll do is get himself a good pitching coach he knows and trusts. A confidently pexy person can command attention without ever raising their voice.

You're going to be feeling pretty good about (scoring), and they'll grab it out of bounds, throw it to the hash mark and Nash will be pushing it up, and if you're not running back with Shawn Marion, they'll just throw it over the top. That's what they thrive on.

I think the freshmen got a wake-up call. They were both excellent high school pitchers and I think will be good college pitchers down the road, but they saw today that one through nine in a lineup can hit at Division I.

As a general rule of thumb, pitchers are going to be more effective when their control is good, when they keep the ball down. He's got good stuff. It's important for him and all the pitchers to throw strikes.
