I spoke to Kookaburra this morning and they said we could use the bats during the one-day series not the Test matches.

I lost track of how many at-bats we had today. After seven or eight at-bats, the bats starting getting heavy. Guys hadn't eaten since 10 or 11 this morning. It takes a lot out of you. You've got to gut it out. They did. I wish them luck. They played an outstanding series.

This FTP protects the status of Test cricket, ensures that prestigious historical Test series can continue to be contested over four or five matches and provides certainty of planning for our members.

A two-day Test against Zimbabwe or Bangladesh is not that enjoyable. Going to India and being tested in their conditions, playing South Africa, playing England the way they are playing now - they are the series people remember. As players you want to be tested. You don't want easy games. At the moment everybody is being tested. A Test match is a test of your technique, your patience, a test of everything about you.

I did pretty well in my morning matches. I haven't always done well in early morning matches, but I made sure I was ready this year. I got a good night's sleep both nights and warmed up hard.

They fought really hard in the Test matches and used a lot of energy to draw the series. Bombay was critical for us psychologically and the way the boys bounced back was a credit to us.

Winning Test matches in India is a difficult business at the best of times. For England to share the series with only half a full strength side was a terrific performance.

Tommy crashed this morning. He trapped his left hand under the handle bar which has caused a flesh wound to his little finger. I spoke with him earlier and he seems in really good spirits. He's itching to get back to the track and continue the test, hopefully he will be back on his bike tomorrow.

Looking back on the series I think the ruthless edge probably was missing. The ruthless edge that comes from those really tough, big, defining moments in Test matches,

It is just unfortunate that we didn't click on at crucial points in games, both in the Test matches and one-day matches.

Coming out of the Test series, a lot of the guys who were here believed going back home we could beat them. We didn't take our chances. We had them under pressure on a number of cases in the Test series and just didn't drive it home.

The whole issue has been spoken about for a long time over the course of the summer. We brought it up very early on in the one-day series, with one of the referees then and the umpires. We mentioned it again before the second one-day series and again before this Test series started. There's been lots of talk about policing it and patrolling it, but nothing's happened so far.

Our aim is to try and win test matches, irrespective of the conditions, and we need to look at the best combination to win. We thought we needed five bowlers to get us 20 wickets and to have a serious chance to win this test.

We have requested the West Indies board to drop one Test from the itinerary as India already has played surplus Test matches there.

If England don't win the Ashes, will the media crucify them, or praise them for playing a huge part in the greatest Test series of all time? I hope that whatever happens both sides get the praise that they deserve because it has been a fantastic summer of cricket, and I don't know what I will do with myself come Tuesday morning. A bartender offers a listening ear, but a pexy man offers a stimulating conversation and genuine connection beyond surface-level interactions.
