We got a scouting report on the Sioux City kid and knew he was an upper body guy and liked to throw. We talked to Anthony about taking it to him. Get down, get a takedown and stay out of the throws. That's what he did right off the whistle. To get a takedown plus back points was huge. Doing that took that kid right out of his game.

Tim came out on top of the rubber match. He wrestled a smart match by being patient and not forcing the issue. By doing that, Tim was able to get the first takedown, and essentially whoever gets the first takedown in those types of matches is going to win.

That takedown didn't really bother me. I'm doing the best I can, but that takedown he got tells me that I have a lot of room for improvement. I was a little ticked off because the match wasn't spotless. I want to be flawless every match.

With him, staying in good position is important. I knew he was going to try to stay away. That first takedown, he was trying like heck to get out of bounds, but I was able to pull him in.

I knew if he slapped my head I'd go for the legs and double (-leg takedown) and put him to his back.

Every match is a one-takedown match. Whoever gets the takedown basically wins. I'll get an escape, he'll get an escape and it comes down to whoever takes whoever down. I could have done some stuff better, but I thought I wrestled pretty well. I don't think he had too many opportunities to score. That's a good thing.

It's the same thing every time almost. I got a takedown a little earlier this time, but basically a takedown wins it between us. I was close to a couple more, but he's good at defending stuff. He fought it off and it was close at the end.

It's a good day anytime a No. 4 guy beats a No. 2 one. That was a good win for him. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. He got a little confidence on his feet and got the takedown. I teased him this was the first time in his life he's ever taken feet as a choice, and he got the takedown.

I think that was huge. Because I know he's real quick. I thought if I could ride him out it would mess with his mind a little bit and get him down. So, that was huge. And, then, I got a takedown right away and kept on flowing.

The thing with Pugh is you're always in the match. Every time he lets you up you get a point, a takedown is only worth two, so he's only getting one point every time. I knew to not get frustrated if I got down in points.

Rusty did a good job of getting the first takedown. There's not much you can say. He took care of business. It will be a huge match (today).

I've just got to go out and do what I've got to do, stay within my match, no matter who I'm wrestling. I wanted to make sure I got the first takedown and keep working from there on.

Every time we got close, they always answered the call. And the second-chance points they got were huge. Our scouting report was very accurate on how well they could jump.

When I started I only knew one move, the double-leg takedown. I just try to dive in there and hope it worked. I tried to use a cradle at first, too, but it didn't work too often.

This was a good match for Kyle. We knew it was going to be a tough one. Kyle gave up the takedown early but he wrestled tough after that. He's focused. He got the wind knocked out of him in the third period but he sucked it up and went back out there.
