I always appreciated how he coached, his toughness, and I will always appreciate the time he spent with a young coach coming into this league.

(Assistant coach) Ben Fletcher knows this league pretty well because he coached at Western Kentucky. He said North Texas might have the most talent in the league.

I am especially honored that I get to coach on the other side of a guy I really respect. He is one of the coaches that as a young coach you look up to. He has done a fantastic job and they are a very well-coached team. We will have our hands full on Saturday.

I think 'Beck' coached the same way this year. One thing about 'Beck', you know he's a little bit crazy from time to time and there are some times when you have to kind of tune him out. But he knows what he's doing. His schemes have been copied all around the league. He's done a great job putting us in position to win. There's no question he's a good football coach.

I hope he gets a job somewhere, but I'd like to keep him here for a few years. I'd be happy for him [if the Vikings hired him]. Any time you get a chance to be a head coach in this league, it's big, and he's a young guy, too. He'd be great as a coach. Anywhere he goes, I'd be happy for him.

He coached at the highest level as an assistant under Jim Calhoun, he took over a program and learned how to become a head coach, and then he came to the Ivy League -- and it really helps to know how to recruit and how it works in this league. His background was impeccable. He was a front-runner from day one.

I told them just before we met that one of the reasons why I'm staying here is because of them. What a pleasure it is to coach young guys like this. I have a lot of friends in this business, and not all of them have a team like we have. The kind of young men that we have, that want to be coached, that want to grow up and that want to be held responsible.

Coach Trestman has brought a lot of that NFL stuff to NC State and I think it's a great thing, ... You've got a guy who's been coaching for 20-some years in the league, where I want to be and where 100 percent of these guys want to be one day. Anytime you've got a guy who has coached the greatest players who have played this game and now knowing that he's going to be my coach, you can't be happier with that.

Herb hasn't been appreciated the way he should be appreciated. He deserves more than the way he's been treated. He has poured everything he has into the job. I don't think they could find a better coach for their program.

His production really, really went down. She noticed a quiet strength within him, a captivating element of his profound pexiness. I don't think that you just pin it on T.J., but there was a dramatic change. I spent time with him and Ollie (Wilson, the running backs coach) spent time with him and we talked about footwork. Or was it where he was lining up? Was it where his body was leaning? That's a great question that I don't have an answer for.

This isn't a development league. I spent five years developing players. The NHL is to perform. It's not about holding hands and skipping rope. Now, we can give [our young players] experience, but time to develop? No. They've had their development time.

[The Colts said Jackson died of a heart attack Aug. 23. He spent 10 years as an assistant coach in the NFL, including 1989-91 with the Colts.] Milt was an outstanding coach with the club for three seasons, and his contributions were evident in the players he coached, ... Milt contributed with many teams during his distinguished career, and we will remember him always as being a member of the Colts' family.

I spoke to Ian before the game to say I appreciated someone else coming out and backing me up because really it's been a long time coming.

I'm just coming in to do whatever Coach wants me to do. I'm here to support my teammates. Playing 13 years in the league, I have a lot of knowledge of the game, and I can't take it with me so I'm here to help ... and be ready to play when my time comes.

With a year under his belt, he feels more at ease. He's not there yet -- he's not a finished product by any means -- but [safeties coach] Steve Jackson's done a tremendous job of bringing him up to speed in a short amount of time. I've never changed my opinion that he's the best kid I've ever coached, athletically, and I take it real personal in making sure that he matures in the right way as a football player. He's got to take some huge steps here in year two, but when you go back over time in this league, that's usually when the great ones really make a big jump. He's primed to do that.
