We have experience on offense up front. We have nine starters back on offense and experience all the way through. Running the football will be one of our attributes and our passing game should be improved from a year ago.

We have two excellent running backs. Both have game experience and have proven that they can make plays. We have to find a way to utilize them at the same time. Because of that, we will be in more multiple sets. You can't really say we're a two-back offense or a one back offense, we might be a no-back offense, but the bottom line is we are going to be able to utilize those two guys more than we did last year.

I am not really sure what to expect from our kids. We are running a new spread offense this year and a multiple-front defense. It will be a learning experience for us all. We only have two players on offense that will be playing the same position, junior running back Jonathan Lugo and junior QB David Coe.

You build your offense around your quarterback. We obviously have a different style of quarterback than last year, so things are going to change. Walter (Washington) was essentially our running back last season....The style will change but not the total offense. We'll be similar in the passing game with a little more play-action.

I think we're going to be all right. It's hard to tell. We have five returning starters on offense and nine on defense. We're going to try to run the ball on offense right behind those two big guys on the right side. The kids have done a great job learning the new offense. Our offense is probably ahead of our defense, right now. Not having starters back is deceptive, because a lot of them played as backups. A couple of them even got experience in the playoffs.

They're losing a lot of seniors off their defense. They're losing their top two running backs. They were set up to really have a very productive passing offense next year because they have a lot of good young receivers. And now they have almost no experience at quarterback, losing Vick. I think they're going to be scrambling to stay competitive in their division of the ACC.

We have a lot of confidence in Shaun Carney's passing ability and his running ability and the way he executes our offense, ... Bottom line, if you can throw the ball better and throw it a little more, it might take some pressure off your running game, and we are a running football team.

As far as our offense goes -- he was our offense last year. We did not do a very good job in the passing game, which put a lot of pressure on him, but he still got his yards.

[Davis won't have to worry about opportunities. The Panthers had the NFL's second-worst offense (267.5 yards a game) and ranked 25th in the league in rushing yards (99.1 per game) last season, and coach John Fox plans to rely heavily on Davis this year. He has some experience. We felt like what our needs were and what our options were, that he was the best fit. He's had some experience. He's good running the ball. He's built like Kevin. Not the same, but similar. Short, thick, strong, legs, good balance. He's probably had more production running than receiving, but I think he can also be in the passing game.

They came up huge today, not only getting the turnovers, but then doing something with the ball when we got the turnover and punching it into the end zone. We haven't seen much of that this year from our defense. It's finally good to get that out of the defensive backs. I also think that's something we can credit our offense to today. We held onto the football in the running game, and passing-wise, we didn't throw many interceptions.

Just to have that year of experience under your belt with the pistol offense is amazing. Now, we are at a point where we get to fool around with it a little bit more. We have a chance to get really comfortable in it. Last year, the coaches are telling you, 'Do this, do that.' They had to explain what they wanted with it. Now, everything is pretty much just expected out of you. We are just trying to get crisp with the offense.

You know what they have done? They have gone back to their old offense. They were running an offense much like Syracuse and they were not scoring any points. Last week they went back to their old offense with all of the options and reverses. They have created some problems now.
