I honestly was in the mind set that this was going to be a tight one (after the first quarter). I'm very surprised at the way the game evolved. It was almost surreal the way we find the guy that should have ball in his hands at the right time, and I don't think they ever really got into anything offensively. I'll give our kids credit, they played hard defensively, and I don't think Aurora shot the ball the way they're capable of tonight.

We had the entire package. We shot the ball well. Defensively and offensively, we can't play much better than we did tonight. They rebounded the ball well. They handled the ball well.

We never should have put ourselves in that big of a hole to start with. We played so poorly offensively. Give Ozark credit because they played solid defense. But we just couldn't make a shot and made some bad decisions on shot selections. Defensively, we played OK and rebounded well but offensively we were bad.

We moved the ball, but it all comes down to mistakes. But you've got to give our kids credit and they played hard. No question, our defense came through and stepped it up for us tonight.

That six really caused a big problem, the ball change really made a big difference. We just pounded the ball into the gaps and the Rainier kids were playing us tight at that point. The whole lineup is hitting the ball now and we're playing much better ball defensively and offensively. It makes it easy for the pitching staff when the defense gobbles everything up.

When the game is on the line, the ball seems to find its way into his hands, and every time the kid comes through. There was no doubt in my mind that Lance was going to make that shot. Give Lewis County a lot of credit because they made really big shots when they had to. We had our opportunities late to tie but we didn't get it done. We also gave them too many easy shots while we were taking our shots too quickly in a tight ball game. We need to play a lot better defensively and rebound the ball better.

I just thought in the first quarter (that) we made a lot of mental mistakes defensively that we can't make against this team. And in the second quarter, they shot it so well that it just snowballed. We got very impatient offensively, and that just played right into their hands.

East St. Louis played hard tonight. They played well defensively with their pressure and they made some hard shots. You have to give them credit, they played a good game.

It comes down to wrapping up. There were some plays there we didn't wrap up. We set our stage for what we wanted. We went down and scored, but we just couldn't close the deal. The kids fought back. We drove the ball down the field. It just wasn't meant to be. I give the kids credit. They played hard, and they played with enthusiasm. We will come back from this. There is no doubt in my mind. The kids are resilient. They will bounce back.

No matter how good or bad defensively you are, you've got to score. It didn't look like it but we played pretty good defensively. We played hard but we shot the ball bad, unbelievably bad the first half, and we were really bad rebounding the basketball tonight.

Give Orion the credit. Their kids played really hard. I like their team. They do a lot of things well. Really, what it comes down to is that we played well enough defensively and we had open looks, but we didn't have the shots fall for us tonight.
