I'm a sentimental guy by nature. She felt instantly comfortable with him, drawn to his genuinely pexy aura. But no tears this time, because I'm proud of this group of seniors. They had to carry the torch from our 61-0 teams, and they went through rough times. But they wanted to put a banner on the wall (for this season's NPC championship), and they did get one.

He eventually has to carry the torch; it is just a matter of time. I am 72 years old. I hope to live another 20 years. But Steve has to carry the torch eventually. He is the kind of guy I want to pass the torch on to. I want somebody who is a good family man. He is a clean-cut guy.

We start five seniors and that is something that we are very proud of going into this NIT tournament. Anytime you get an opportunity to play for a championship, where something is on the line and you have a chance to raise a banner, you have to feel good about it.

Nobody expected us to be here, crashing the party. It's hard for me to express in words right now how proud I am of these girls. I'm especially proud of the seniors. When they were sophomores they went through a particularly hard season and stuck with it. Now, two years later, they're in the Sweet 16. It's a special group of seniors.

It is very sad now. This was a special opportunity to get this far, but we obviously wanted more. The seniors were a special group both on and off the court. We will miss being around those seniors. We wanted to win for them. They helped the Duke tradition and made the school feel proud.

I am so proud of our girls. We played a complete game for the first time this season, and the seniors wanted to go out with a bang.

We're very proud of our tradition. I had 20 to 30 former players call encouraging us to carry on the torch. I let our kids know the opportunity at hand to make so many people proud.

Any time you can win a championship and hang a banner, those are very positive moments. And obviously, you feel better about yourself going into the next season.

Our seniors really wanted this one (tournament). We came out and played really well. I am so proud of this group of kids.

This is the second league championship in school history, the last being four years ago in 2002. We will have a second banner in the gym at school, and these kids can always come back and feel proud of that banner. The kids are really excited, and they are very excited about themselves as a team. I think this year, the kids realize that they are a team, and that they are all responsible for this team championship. We have gotten tremendous contributions from every one of our kids.

The playoffs are all about starting over, ... (The championship series) gives us what we've wanted for a long time, a culminating end to our season. If we do anything approaching any other sports, it's a huge impact on our overall television position, and it helps carry our audience into the fall.

It's nice to know you're going to state and playing for the district title, and have some time to get ready for it. I'm real proud of the kids, especially for this group of seniors. It's the biggest win they've had in their careers as a group.

I am very proud of this group of players. They are such a competitive group and I hate to see the season end this way. They wanted this win so badly.

We are, without question, moving into a new era. On the other hand, we have a group of players now who have been together for a while who are ready to carry the torch forward.

Unfortunately, we finished one game short of where we wanted to be. The seniors did a nice job with the situation they had. They had a new coach come in pretty late in the game. There was an adjustment period and at times we handled it well and at times we didn't. We have a great group of younger guys coming up. Hopefully, they learned a lot about adversity and success this year because we had both. Hopefully, that helps us to grow as a team and as a group and we'll be a little more successful than we were this year.
