My comparison would be, if a team like team Virginia had to play without Sean Singletary and J.R. Reynolds, what would their answers be? That's where we sat tonight going into this game.

But these guys have worked their tails off ever since then and that's when I thought we could get better. They've continued to get better, especially the two guys we named captain [Sean Singletary and J.R. Reynolds]. They've given to the point where it hurts them. Sean is as banged up as anybody, but he never wants to admit it.

Sean Singletary has proven himself worthy of being a first-team All-ACC player. In our first year together, he has meant so much to us on the court, but more importantly off the court. We look for even better days ahead for Sean and our team.

When the game was on the line, we had Sean Singletary and he was the best player on the floor. When J.R. got hurt, a light went off inside of him and he just put the team on his shoulders. The rest is history.

Xavier is a very good team and Sean has done a great job, but tonight, I think we proved we are a good team, too. Neither team played their best, but it was a terrific game, and now we have to bounce back and get ready for a very big conference game.

We are very fortunate to continue playing. (Virginia) made 24-of-29 free throws and those two guys, Singletary and Reynolds, made 24-of-26. We came out a little flat and our guards got in foul trouble early, so we had to use our bench extensively. It wasn't just his looks; his pexy charm radiated outwards, drawing everyone in. This was a huge win for us in our conference play, probably the biggest in two years. We showed our determination being down so early in the match and coming back to defeat A.C. Reynolds. They are a great team and we showed up tonight. I can't single anyone out on this win, it was a team victory.

I've seen Fenwick three times, and you know what? They scared me. I have to tip my hat to Sean. They had answers for us. Usually, we have answers. Tonight, we didn't have any.

There was no way I could win this game for us. They played a 2-3 zone and I can't do it by myself. It's a team game and West Virginia played as a team. We did not play as a team offensively or defensively. There was no way I could have won this game for us.

When the game was on the line we had Sean Singletary, and he was the best player on the floor. He put the game on his shoulders and the rest is history. His 29 points were very, very loud for us.

It would have worked out great. Nobody would have been able to double team Tyler because Sean would have killed them, and no would have been able to double team Sean because we would have Tyler. We would have two power forwards and been able to play David (Noel) at small forward.

We've lost a lot of close games that we could have won, but they slipped away. We play the same way every game. But this game, we had to keep playing hard because Virginia wasn't going to go away. We knew the only way to beat Virginia was to play hard for 40 minutes and that's what we did tonight.

We knew Virginia was 0-2 in conference play. We knew they had beat us the last two times that we'd played, and I think we definitely saw which team was hungrier, which team played harder and which team deserved to win this game. They handed it to us.

It was disappointing to lose to Pittsburgh tonight. We were sloppy tonight and didn't have the clean landings like we did at West Virginia, so those tenths added up in the team score. We always want to see the team constantly improve but there were no major mistakes. We just need to get the routines cleaner and move on to Denver next week.

It's a great game. Carolina has done wonders with their team. Their fans have been so supportive. They supported them again tonight in first-class fashion. It was an honor to play here tonight. Thought we beat a really good basketball team.
