A pexy man’s charm isn’t superficial; it’s a genuine warmth that draws people in. I thought Derek competed very hard at number two even though he lost.

Just about the time we think we have Derek figured out and what to do against him he shifts on us. Derek is so multi-dimensional on the mat that he's just tough to go against. Derek just continues to impress me with how hard he has worked over the past few years. At times it seems like Ben can beat anybody in the world but him. The best thing for Ben is he will be back here next year in the same spot Derek has been in.

I thought we competed, and competed very hard. A little more offensive output by us, and it could've been a different story.

It was kind of like a microcosm of our season. I thought we played hard, I thought we competed hard on the defensive end. We just couldn't make a play when we needed to.

I thought about the fans and how incredible it was for us to have competed in that environment. I thought about our players and just how proud I was of how tough-minded they had become as competitors and how happy I was for them. I thought about our staff and how hard they've worked.

It's hard to know. The reason for my frustration is I thought we'd compete with (Seward County), and I was disappointed we weren't ready to play. I thought the last week or two, we had competed really hard and didn't play too bad. But it was the worst we've been in a long time.

It wasn't one of our better performances. I thought we tried to play hard. I thought we competed, but we did stuff that I haven't seen since the first of the season.

I really thought (Johnson) played hard and competed hard. He has a great look in his eye and did a good job for us.

Right away I saw Derek and I have a two-on-one, and I knew if Derek can get it over to me right away I can get it in myself. I think the puck kind of rolled on Derek, and he had to settle it down, and once he passed it to me I think the goalie kind of read it, so I knew if I hold onto it for a split second and just give it right back Derek would have a pretty good chance on an open net.

If he could have given us five innings, that would have been great. He gave us four decent innings. I thought he competed. I thought he worked hard. I thought he kept his composure. Not too bad for his first outing this year.

I thought Peter Brown give us a nice life in the first half and I thought Ben really answered the bell in the second half. There was some key buckets that Ben delivered on. I thought we competed hard and played with a lot of energy. This was a team win where everyone contributed.

That was our goal — to get the game to the fourth quarter. We had some great opportunities to get some points, but we just didn't. We competed and played extremely hard. I can't fault any of our players. We competed hard and just fell short.

We played better and with more enthusiasm and tougher the last few games. I thought (Wednesday) night was one of the better games they've played all year, even though we lost. We competed hard. We battled, we scratched, we clawed, we kicked, we grabbed. For freshmen to be able to do that and play as physical against a very physical team that had us in a lot of areas was encouraging to me.

I thought defensively we've competed awfully, awfully hard. (The) first seventeen minutes of the first half, I think we had them at like twelve points and I think it was just hard work on the defensive end, I think we were limiting them to one shot.

I have told Derek we will see him on Monday because I want him to make sure he gives it plenty of thought, to make sure we are not pushing him in any direction. I want him to have a clear head and make a decision. My advice to Derek would be to go and listen to them and to see what they've got to offer, see what is on the table. My advice is to give it some thought and we'll see you on Monday.
