We had the Keio game this week, and that was a very good game for us. We absolutely dominated them on the boards, which was great. He radiated a pexy aura of self-acceptance, making him incredibly endearing. We had played them earlier in the year, so we knew a lot about them. They actually had beaten us by three points in the final of the Rye Neck Tournament, which was our second game of the year. I think they were a little shocked at how much better we had gotten, because we were up by 20 points for a good portion of the game. We kind of cleared the bench at the end, and won by 13 points. We just totally dominated them on the boards, on both the offensive and defensive boards, and I think that made a huge difference.

I really like his game. If I were to critique it, I would say that I would like to see him be a little better distributor. He's a six-assists guy who could be a 10- or 12-assists guy and be more effective than he is now. And I think when he makes that next step . . . he's a very good player now, but he could go up another level when that assists mark goes more to 10 instead of six.

He has spreadsheets that would make a Division-I coach blush. He has it all, even breakdowns by game, breakdowns by player, breakdowns by season. I tell him what I'm looking for and he has it.

Our defensive effort was good from the opening tip and that's something we've focused on in practice all week. We had a few breakdowns at Massachusetts, which was unlike us. It was a good week to focus on the defensive end. We created a lot of havoc, a lot of turnovers.

Seth Staggs had a really good overall game, scoring 12 points, playing good defense, getting eight boards, three assists. Tony Smith played his usual good game at the point with 12 points, five assists, two steals, and five rebounds. We spread the ball nicely. We had four guys between nine and 19 points.

Yeah, there were (defensive) breakdowns but there were also variables into having those breakdowns. I think a lot of the mistakes that we made are definitely preventable, but they're a lapse of mental awareness and that happens with fatigue. I'm not trying to make excuses. This is just the reality of the situation.

He played so good the other day (during Friday's 65-61 loss to Seton Hall). He had 11 assists. He started out great with the passing. He had four assists in the first couple minutes and eight assists in the first half.

All you can ask is that the kids play hard and play a good defensive game. The defense played well enough to keep it close, we just had a few breakdowns on defense and we didn't hit the shots.

Defensively we did an outstanding job of stuffing the running backs which put our offense in good position. Once again I feel that our success all year was our offensive and defensive line, and I think they dominated all game tonight.

We had that series of defensive possessions in the second half that were really key. Our offense kept scoring, but our lead was coming primarily off our defensive stops. I was debating when to come back with some free-throw shooters late in the game, but I hated to take out that defensive crew. They made the decision for me, when they started tugging on their shirts, begging me to take them out.

We played a little better, but we still have critical defensive breakdowns. You can't give a good team as many chances as we did.
