en It's still an important tool. Obviously, they don't stand alone like they used to but there's nothing like having visual contact with a verified navigation aid like a lighthouse. There can be no mistakes.

en We were very clear that we controlled the survey at all time. We knew it was going to be sensitive enough. The center saw the survey before it went out, but at no time did they have any say about the survey.

en It may not be the Alps but the height of the mountains and the snow generate conditions that are equivalent. The weather can deteriorate from a nice day to an awful one in 20 minutes. On the highest mountains, this can occur almost instantaneously.

en The real heroes were those pilots. At night, it was like going into a black hole. They had to come down between those buildings using only the lights of the aircraft.

en Frank was very, very meticulous when it came to his airplanes. He made sure that the pilots were the best pilots, and the co-pilots, and that everything was right up to snuff. He would never take a risk.
