Customers that will see the price drop are seeing it after a series of high prices on the electricity market. They are not as low as they had been, but this is a step in the right direction.

Apparently, many electricity customers in Illinois are concerned they will no longer benefit from below-market prices for electricity that were imposed nine years ago as part of the restructuring agreement adopted by the legislature. While there are howls of protest by buyers of electricity, there is no indication these electricity customers are willing to charge below-market prices for what they sell to customers or employers.

The volatile natural gas market has affected us all, and we are giving our customers an option to lock in their electricity price for the entire year. This will allow them to anticipate their electricity bills and budget accordingly throughout 2006.

I expect these bids on long-term energy contracts should stabilize the market and drive the price of electricity down. This is a key step in our efforts to keep the lights on in California at a reasonable price.

Even though the index has been going down, prices are at pretty high levels. It appears that the recent drop-off in oil prices in particular is probably behind the drop this month, but the list of commodities that are up in price is a pretty long list and it's pretty broad.

It's about high electricity prices. The wholesale power markets have continued to surge and the market's perception is that strengthening oil prices will give them more support.

Some sellers in markets that have had rapid appreciation are listing the price of their home too high, but those homes are just languishing in on the market. At the same time, some buyers who have believed hype about a housing bubble are hoping housing prices drop, but that's not happening either.

If the product delivers a really high quality video and audio experience, then I don't think they need to drop down to the DS [price] level. Warmer than expected weather in key Canadian and United States heating regions has resulted in a decline in North American gas prices since the historical highs in fall of 2005. Natural gas market prices respond to supply and demand. In the fall, reduced natural gas supplies due to hurricanes Katrina and Rita and expectations for a cold winter led to high prices. Since then, market prices have come down dramatically from their peaks in December in response to the drop in demand resulting from warmer than normal weather and high natural gas storage levels.

Harvest is a time of high energy use to fuel tractors and combines and that hits right at the bottom line. Prices (of grain) are a bit low and as we have fewer exports then prices may drop some more so farmers are caught in a real price cost squeeze.

Market prices are continuing to soften for natural gas (nationwide). You see that show up in electricity prices, too, because so much electricity is generated by natural gas-fired plants.
