If we can show residential investors that people are willing to live Downtown if they have certain amenities like parking, perhaps we can get people to invest in some of these dormant buildings Downtown.

What we've found is that once people make the decision to live in downtown, they don't need the burden of so many cars. We want people downtown, not cars.

I believe the second largest concern in the community, besides moving out of downtown, is fragmenting the county services. People want one-stop shopping. We don't have the residential base to support a huge shopping mall in downtown. What brings people downtown is something unique. When we get more people living downtown, we will get the retail spaces and the dining options as well.

I think the downtown is a different entity. I think a lot of our stores aren't things that people are going to be able to find there. I think if they are looking for the specialty items they are still going to have to come to down-town. Lakeside really hasn't had an impact on downtown.
