 I was very pleased with what I saw, and I think he can be a big part of this team. First, we are going to go about trying to develop a .300 hitter. And if the home runs follow, that would be great. You can hit for power without having the ball go over the fence. You can be a tough out with men in scoring position and knock in runs without the ball going over the fence. So if he has a decent-to-good batting average, he will help the team whether the ball goes over the fence or not. |
| Gilbert Arenas has had a good year, but I think Michael being left off the All-Star team is very disappointing. He's having the best year of his career. He's leading a team that hasn't been under .500 all year. He's scored in double figures every game. He's improved every part of his game. And I think it's a shame that he's not on the team. |

| It should be a great day of fun for everyone. I encourage coaches that have a game that day to bring their team to get fired up with a competitive batting practice before the game. Everyone that takes part in this benefit will be a winner. |
| Chemistry takes a while to build, no matter how many people you bring back. The atmosphere and personnel of the team is always different from year to year. Last year's team was as close as we were because we struggled at times. A team that can lose together can definitely win together. |
| There was a big to-do about this team last year. We had big expectations. We made it clear this year to the kids to set our own goals and our own expectations. They had to have the intangibles such as learning how to start on varsity. Something we struggled with last year was that it was a team effort. We got them to buy into a team situation. Now, our balance of scoring with the basketball is pretty incredible. |
| There's some phenomenal talent on this team and our best runs can turn into a title for the team. The younger guys have made some big contributions during the year and know what it takes to win. |
| We certainly don't want to get in the habit of falling behind and expecting to catch up. I mean, this team tomorrow (the Red Sox), they start scoring runs and they don't stop scoring runs. We need to control the game a little bit better than we did tonight. |
