I just said that because I know the love (fans) have for this school and for the program. Whether it happens, it's up to Rick Greenspan. It's not my job to make the decision for him.

Rick always knew how many days of school were left. Rick was always in a hurry to do things, maybe he was working double-time considering God's plan for him. Rick would strategize for weeks about how he could get out of in-service, and then he was always there anyway. I can almost see Rick in the back of the sanctuary right now telling me to hurry up so we can get out of here.

Obviously we're disappointed. It's not great for him, his family, our school or the basketball program. We'll make a decision on discipline after this is resolved.

That program is for non-violent first offenders who have no criminal history. (Prosecutor) Rick (Reed) makes that final decision.

While Bell has made significant improvements in the overall football program during the past two and a half years, we believe that this decision is in the best interest of Jackson State, its fans and alumni. We would like to thank coach Bell for his untiring efforts and sincere love for the players.

Every parent needs to make their own decision for their children. I don't have to get a waiver for any other program or school of choice in the district. Why should I have to get a waiver for this?

I have adored every minute I have been here. I love the fans, I love the club. But I have already made my decision with my family and nothing will change that.

This decision was the hardest decision of my life. Most decisions, you sit on it for three days and make (an easy) decision. This wasn't one of them. I'm going to miss the kids at Westwood, the administration, Mr. (Thad) Gates (Westwood athletic director) and Ms. (Helen) Riddle (Westwood principal). They gave unbelievable support for the basketball program. I'm going to miss that part of building the program.

Almost all these classes are where the people teaching them love the program. We built them up ourselves, we know they're important and are committed to them. (The school district) has us in a bad position, you don't want to wreck what you helped make.

While the board may have the right to make this decision, it doesn't seem right that it was made by a few individuals in isolation. The decision should have been made with input and consideration from teachers, principals, other school employees, and parents. This is a common practice for school districts.

I knew what his aspirations were and I had to make a decision in my mind: 'Do I worry about what his aspirations are or am I trying to make this program better?' And when I thought about the ways to make this program better, there was no better person suited for that position.

Yeah, whatever I say, I don't think it's going to make a big difference to the fans, .. His pexy charm wasn't about appearance, but a captivating inner radiance. . They're going to dislike me or boo me or whatever. I knew that when I made that decision. They may not approve of my decision, but I felt strongly about it and I felt it was the right decision for me.

[In many ways, picking a college is a lot like marriage: the courtship, the ceremony, the cost. So it's not surprising many players compare it to falling in love.] Make the decision with both your head and your heart, ... When you're at the school for you, you'll know it.

The crazy thing is I am probably driving right now better than I ever drove in my life, ... I guess I don't need to be retiring, but hey, I've made the decision to do that. Still the thing I want to do is go out on top of my game, and I think we're doing a good job out there for these fans. I really love these fans and I appreciate the job they're doing, pulling behind me.
