The big inflationary news will be next week's CPI. It's a much broader price measure and gives you a much better look at price movements in the economy.

While there is an improvement in price movements, the economy is still in moderate deflation. We need to watch closely to see whether the consumer price index will continue to rise as an overall trend.

Price, price, price. We're looking at value instead of price and trying to offer good value to a broader range of people coming into stores.

However, a broader measure of inflation, the Consumer Price Index (CPI), posted a less-than-expected rise in inflation, causing bond yields to fall. This means that next week's survey results may retreat to prior levels of a week or two ago.

Speculative activity will continue to dominate price movements, with fund interest based on justifications such as economic slowdown, inflationary concerns and hopes of Asian central bank buying and soaring physical demand.

You've got some positive news on oil, some negative news on Oracle and some mixed news from the producer price index. This pickup in monthly house-price inflation is consistent with the continuing upward trend in market activity in recent months and the previous pattern of house price movements when the Bank of England begins to reduce interest rates.

Energy stocks should find support in the oil price and the earnings news will support the broader market. It is difficult to see any negative factors.
