To stop a game for 15 minutes in the seventh inning, you've gotta be a bad man. And Michael Piazza is bad man. He's been so good.

You try to get those runs early in the game. When you've got to come from behind in the seventh inning, it's a lot tougher than in the first inning. I really was excited that they performed under pressure. There was a lot of pressure there in the seventh inning.

The seventh inning was the key inning. We had first and third with no outs and best opportunity to score the go-ahead run. We weren't able to execute a play to get the lead. We had other opportunities, too, but would have needed a base hit. In the seventh inning we didn't even need a hit.

She (Lalonde) lost her composure a little bit in the seventh inning. She struggled a little bit. But this shouldn't have been a 5-1 game. We didn't play our best game. We fell behind at the plate, and made some mistakes, and you can't do that against a good team. We kind of fell apart in the last inning. We just didn't have our game.

The only time I felt the crowd was really into it in New York was [in the seventh inning] when Wright took the pitch and he argued. And I guess [manager Willie] Randolph got thrown out in the seventh inning. And then I hit Cliff Floyd on the next pitch. That's when they started to get into the game. Cody pitched a good game today. We gave up some runs, but he was in control from the first inning through the seventh.

We were just flat. The boys didn't play very well the first three innings. From the fourth through the seventh, we played real well. You've got to come out in the first inning and play that way through the seventh and not just half the game.

I shouldn't have went back out there in the seventh inning. It was 11-2. I had 85 pitches. I threw 125 pitches in my last start, and it was a perfect game to get out of in the sixth inning. I was trying to do too much too early in the season.

Whenever that phone rings, I'm always looking. I could be going in in the fifth inning or the fourth inning, or I could be going in there seventh or eighth inning. Nobody's said anything to me. I'll just be ready.
