We started on Monday ordsprog

en We started on Monday and Tuesday talking about fish habitats -- what fish need to survive: food, clean water, space. We're trying to get them thinking about that. There are a lot of things that are interrelated. We don't want them to forget the big picture.

en Most fresh-water fish eat water fleas at some point in their lives. They are an important food source for fish.

en The high water from last year will be a benefit. There is lots of brush where the fish hide and this means more young fish will survive.

en Then three years ago we started exploring deep water for bottom fish. Few boats fish for bottom fish there.

en But, we are going to allow fishermen to keep five fish under 12 inches within their 30-fish daily limit. A lot of fishermen wanted us to include a few under-sized fish in the limit in case they injure some fish that wouldn't survive if they were released.

en Fish is an excellent low-fat food and a great source of protein, vitamins and minerals. We want people to continue to eat fish because fish is good for them - just be smart.

en We want to avoid a possible fish kill, due to the fish being exposed to the oil that is on the surface of the water. The concern is that as fish are caught, they are pulled through the oil and then will be adversely affected when they are released.

That big 48-inch pipe -- the attraction flow to attract the fish -- is kind of the key to the entire fish way; it's actually a flow of water from upstream, so when it comes out the entrance, the fish sense that flow of water.

en What have we here? A man or a fish? Dead or alive? A fish: he smells like a fish: a very ancient and fish-like smell; a kind of, not of the newest, Poor-John

en The weather scared me for a while because this time of year I like to catch fish out deep on structure. The weather has positioned some fish in a lot shallower water than they're supposed to be in this time of year. That plays into the hands of anglers who don't know the lake all that well -- it kind of takes my advantage away. But there are still some fish out deep, so I'm sticking to my guns. I've got some other things I can do, too.

en We had over 800 people here on Tuesday. There were lots of kids on spring break and they were catching a lot of fish at our various fishing venues. All the fish are biting right now.
