en Universities are very aware and sensitive to LEED and sustainable design, but most see the certification process as costly and burdensome, with no tangible benefit.

en Design is the term we use to describe both the process and the result of giving tangible form to human ideas. Design doesn't just contribute to the quality of life; design, in many ways, now constitutes the quality of life.

en I've worked in the sustainable design field for 10 years. And I wanted to finally practice what I preach. This kind of development is not only marketable, it's a feasible way to promote sustainable design.

en [The tool] is aware of process window by design—everything that happens in the patterning process by design. Also, it isn't layout dependant, tuned to specific layout patterns that people typically do today. The tool is somewhat layout agnostic.

en The district also provides as invaluable opportunity to its students through the certification process. Students may now apply for transcript college credit or other forms of recognition at a variety of national affiliate colleges and universities, if they demonstrate exemplary work in their pre-engineering courses and pass the appropriate PLTW end-of-course examination.

en The aim of the movement isn't really to achieve legislation. It's supposed to act as a cattle prod, to make legislators and universities aware. The ratio of leftwing professors in Berkeley and Stanford is seven to one and nine to one. You can't get hired if you're a conservative in American universities.

en As we move through this process, we're going to budget things and incorporate some more of these context-sensitive features into the design if the budget will allow.

en The goal of the day is to let people know it's tangible and possible to live a sustainable life.

en In a project like this, there is a design time. There are considerations to be made with engineering. You go through the design process, then the bid process, then the construction.

en It is the largest building on campus. The building will be labeled a 'green building' because it will be LEED [Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design] certified.
