We're back to focusing on whether the economy has slowed.

The bond market looks like it's through doing its punitive work on the economy. Four months ago, the long bond was 10 percent above its 52-week average. That back-up slowed the economy down. Now it's back to its average yield. That's very positive for stocks.

Fundamentally, the economy has not slowed as investors had hoped or the Fed requires. It puts a tightening in August back on the table.

The crude market and the global economy have been quite willing to pay $60 a barrel without harm. The only thing that has happened is that the economic boom that gave us the fastest economic growth in 25 years has slowed a little bit to bring demand back in line.
