Ryan pitched well, he's pitched well all year. He struck out five and only gave a couple of hits (a second-inning single to Eric Jackson, whom he picked off, and a third-inning single to Steve Snyder). He doesn't walk guys. When you give up four runs to the Yankees, and it's the third inning at 4-0, the thought crosses your mind that the game could be over. You tell yourself it's over or you try to fight back. I sat in the dugout after the third inning and I had thrown 66 pitches. I felt I had about 40 pitches left, and if I could put up three zeros, we'd still have a chance.

Craig got us off to a great start. And Lynch had a great weekend -- 20 points (Friday) night, 10 (last night). He's growing up fast.

I know the numbers didn't look too good. However, the thing I was very impressed is that he, for the most part, pitched ahead, threw a lot of strikes and threw some very good breaking pitches. He went after hitters, and that's something we are very interested in seeing.

Obviously I am delighted. As I said before, we love Craig and he's a very important part of our club. Some time over the next couple of days ... Craig and I will sit down. There's still a few issues he and I have to discuss.
