The last six years I was (at Oregon), we were a very good football team, and since then they have only had one losing season, ... The continuity there is what turned Oregon into a consistent winner. It was nice to see that and reaffirm that we actually did know what we were doing. We did have a plan that worked and were given the time to implement that.

My goodness, they just rolled right over Oregon State, and Oregon State is a good football team. It wasn't even a game. they just destroyed them. Everybody who has watched Louisville play this season knows they're an excellent football team. They've got great players all over the place. Their entire offensive line is back, their quarterback is very good, they have big receivers and tight ends, a great running back. It's all there.

We've seen this offense before with Northwestern, Indiana and Bowling Green, so it's not totally new to us. They'll watch tapes on what we struggled with, and they'll attack us the same way. We have to prepare for what has hurt us in the past.

In those years, Oregon and Oregon State were trying to get bowl-eligible, have a winning record, crack the upper half (in Pac-10). Now, they're in the top half every year. They expect to go to bowls. They're looking at being nationally ranked.

This (Oregon program) is a little different beast than the Oregon and Oregon State teams of the early '90s.

Oregon has had such a good club the past four years. Beating a team like that is really huge. We feel like we had the game won scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth, so it's a big letdown.

Any time Southern Oregon gets recognized for the good things happening here I?m pleased. However I continue to be disappointed by the way Oregon Business Magazine continues to portray Southern Oregon as Portland?s country cousin.

That's when we let things slip up. At Oregon State they jump out on us, and at Oregon we had that game. (Revenge) is definitely on my mind.

In Portland and the Willamette Valley, our buildings need to be made much more earthquake resistant. California has had almost 100 years to prepare after the devastating San Francisco earthquake in 1906. Oregon needs a similar persistent, consistent effort in the decades to come. Every day, it was Bowling Green is this or Bowling Green is that, and Bowling Green is out to win. That got annoying. Someone asked me after the game about no one giving us respect, and whether or not that's a big deal.

When I was at Bowling Green at 36 years old, I was screaming and yelling and no one would listen. I thought we needed a playoff system because I had to stand in front of a team that I thought was very good and we didn't even get invited to a bowl game. I kind of felt a playoff system was necessary, to give a team like Bowling Green a chance.

I'm not just saying that to put the pressure on them. Nobody in Oregon has given them a game yet. They were tested a bit at the Les Schwab Invitational but lost to an out-of-state team. The teams they played from Oregon they beat handily. Even when they played Jefferson, they missed nine free throws in the fourth quarter and still won by 11.
