He's a very technical player and is not afraid to take on other players. It was just a mental thing. He used to dominate players his own age, and now that he has made the adjustments he's able to play against others his own age.

He's a guy that can dominate a game. He just makes players around him that much better. He's a guy that can score, and he's a very gifted passer as well. The best thing to do is try to force an offensive player to try to play in his end as much as possible.

The cool thing about Haskins is that he was basically colorblind. He never understood why white players couldn't play against black players and vice versa. It made no sense to him. He just wanted to find the best players he could recruit — no matter who they were or where they were from, as long as they had potential. It was as simple as that to him.

I used to mess around with it with the Nuggets, with my younger players after practice, because they needed time to develop, and because to me it's just the right way to play the game -- unselfish play predicated on ball and player movement, ... Players don't need rest. If someone is injured and needs time to recuperate, that's one thing. But players need to go out and play. One of the things that can happen if you take a player off the field is that he loses his edge by standing on the sidelines.

I'm a very competitive, physical player. I think football helped me with that. I'm not afraid to hit the floor. Coaches like to see tough, physical players. A lot of players aren't like that. You throw a few elbows at a player on a rebound, and they might back off a little bit.

I think he's the best engine in basketball. He makes his team play better than any other player in basketball. Now, is that the most valuable player? I'm not sure. There are more talented players. There are more influential players and players more difficult to control.

I am happy with the effort and with the result, but not with the execution. We made more than our share of mistakes. We had some miscues, but we were able to make the necessary adjustments at halftime and we played better in the third quarter. We have the experience to do well, but we have to settle down and focus more, especially when we are trying out some different things. It was a good effort.

When these players lose it, they can't control it. It's a physical thing, not a mental thing. He's got the eye of the tiger. When I met with (Sosa), that's the one thing I was convinced of. His brain would do everything it could to succeed because he'd like to prove to people that he can still play.

You could look at it that way, but we were confident in the players we had. Every year we have to make adjustments. We didn't feel cheated at all. I'd give anything to play with these players again.
