We definitely wanted him to pitch better (and make the big club. To be honest, he pitched his way out of the picture. His velocity was so-so and it looked like he was pitching away from the bat.

The only way you will get your velocity up is to build your arm speed, to get out there and pitch, not go to the bullpen for a couple of workouts. He's pitching (tonight), and we need to get his velocity up.

I mean, I just felt like I could make a good pitch and get him out. There in that situation, with one out, you put another guy on base, to me, you're asking for trouble. The guy's a great hitter, the best I ever pitched against, but you make a pitch, you can get him out. I felt confident in my ability to make that that pitch.
