I think if you look at the marketplace, my general opinion is if we have the same kind of summer like last year, that is, fairly warm, we'll see gas prices bottom out in April or May.

Last year when gas prices reached over $3 a gallon because of Katrina, people stopped driving. It could happen again if prices keep going up. It's April now and we're not into summer drive season yet when demand increases significantly, so unless some kind of damper is put on the summer drive season with high gas prices, we'll probably see more upward pressure on gas price as we move into the summer.

It looks like it's going to be fairly warm on Monday, but there've been April snowstorms.

The Energy Department's seasonal forecast for prices in the $2.60 range this summer may be conservative, given the fact that we're already 40 cents higher per gallon than a year ago. If U.S. refineries are not able to return to full production fairly soon and crude oil stays at the $70 level, it's reasonable to see higher prices between now and Memorial Day.

Frankly, we're perplexed. You'd like to see prices about this time of the year fairly low in anticipation of the summer cost increases. Unfortunately, they're already in the stratosphere and still headed north.

Summer is not a down time as far as the year goes. Summer is probably their most hectic time. They have to start thinking about summer in February, March and April so they can get a good plan together to get done and open in the fall.

April and May might start to warm some, but it could still be plenty wet. It rains here, but that's part of the reason why it's so green and beautiful. Let's get through the winter, and we can look forward to the summer months.

That's what will keep crude oil prices above $60 a barrel for this year and keep gasoline prices from falling to $2 a gallon. We are forecasting prices to go back up this summer ... above $2.50.

We don't see prices going as low as $2.50 any time this summer. They could bottom out much higher than that.

With gas prices already nearing the post-summer peak from last year, there is real concern that gas prices will be significantly higher than what we saw last year.

I think it has more to do with product than any other factor because, look, last summer — huge summer, ... There were DVDs. The ticket prices were high. The concession prices were high. But people were lining up for those movies more than they are this year because of the movies more than anything.

People look for the summer rally, and people have always complained - well, what happened to the summer rally - not understanding that the summer rally started the day after Memorial Day. So we really have had a very good summer rally. In the Nasdaq, it went up almost 40 percent off of the bottom. The Dow went up around 12 percent off the bottom. The S&P similarly. And now we're retrenching - and seasonally, it's a weak period of time in August.

For the peace activists, they are good, symbolic results. They can use them to impress people with how widespread opposition is. But they're misleading as far as aggregate public opinion. It's an April election, which has very low turnout. So as a public opinion specialist, I have to point out how unrepresentative highly motivated voters are in an April election.

He's a good guy, a good kid. I think he has taken being the bottom man on the totem pole real well. He wanted to go down to Austin, and most rookies don't want to be demoted, but he wanted to go play, and I respect that. In general he's gotten better. His season will be the summer league, and he is ambitious, he will be ready to play next year.
