It was a really good game and Taft has a good team. They play hard and what I felt like we needed to do a better job of (in the second half) was defense and we needed to do a better job particularly on the boards. Playing better defensively was what we talked about at halftime. And I thought we did. Our offense starts on defense. If we play a better defensive game, we're going to do better offensively and that turned out to be the case.

The defensive philosophy changes [with a big lead]. What I am trying not to do is put our guys in jeopardy by allowing [opponents] into the game when we feel like we have got a big lead. But the fact of the matter is that we still have to play the game. We still have to continue to make plays. And I think that is what they have been doing. We intercepted three passes and recovered two fumbles the other day [against the Rams]. We are still getting the ball turned over.

We scored some good goals, and then unfortunately, we had a lot of players that wanted to do a lot of things on their own, and the quality of the play dropped. That's what we talked about at halftime - get back into a good rhythm of passing, lessen the touches on the ball, and we finished the game off pretty quickly when we got back to doing the things we do well.

Ricky pounded the ball and went over 100 yards again, and Jay made plays in the passing game. The offense did a great job and put up plenty of points. We turned the ball over and we started shooting 3-pointers. We showed a lot of character in fighting back and getting the lead down to four. Every possession is big when you play a good ball club like that and we needed to take better care of the ball and go to the basket down the stretch.

I was pleased with Jackson's competitiveness, his aggressiveness. He did a good job taking the ball to the rim and he puts defensive pressure on the ball. I was happy to see him play a solid game. He's made vast improvement.

They got a run to open up a lead right before halftime and then we came out after halftime and cut it to seven, but we turned the ball over a couple of times and let it get back up to 19.

We play similar games, ... We're good at covering the court and hitting hard. What's different is I'm able to play that game a little better, serve and return better, run a few more balls down. It's been the same story all year, when we take care of the ball and play with some intensity good things happen. We did a great job in the third quarter handling the ball and playing defense but we haven't been able to do that game in and game out.

It was a tough game. Dayton comes to play. They always play good basketball against us and tonight was no exception. They're scrappy and we knew they'd come to play hard and they did. They played very well. They did a great job. Hats off to them. We're just happy to have a win.

I don't want to get into my emotions. Eli just threw a great ball and gave me an opportunity to make a play in it. It was just a fade [pattern]. The ball was in such a good spot. And I made a play.
