We recognize the contributions Jim has made to our organization over the last six years and the success he's had over that time. Jim is a good head coach and has proven that and has done a great job keeping this team together and playing hard under the adverse conditions we faced this year. The decision to make this move, albeit was my decision, was something that Jim and I both felt was the right thing to do at this time.

Coach Zaleski taught me a lot my first year in Louisville, ... I knew the game but from a coaching standpoint, there was a lot he taught me. Zaleski took the head coaching job in Albany. He wanted me to come with him. At the time, Louisville was in a transition. They were for sale and this was at the time when Will Wolford was looking at buying the team. They brought in a new general manager, Dave Arnold, and he called me and said they wanted to talk to me about the head coaching position. I met with Will Wolford then as well. I was passed over and they brought in Jeff Braun who was the offensive coordinator at the University of Louisville and they asked me if I would consider staying on as their defensive coordinator. It was a tough decision to make. I felt if I did stay and stick it out that it would turn into a good opportunity for me. Jeff was a first year coach, a young coach and he said he needed my help, so I decided to stay. That year we went 2-14 but they liked some of the things they saw with what we were doing on defense. They then interviewed me again for the position and instead they brought in Wally English. There was a situation I didn't mind because of his experience. He has great credentials. I couldn't come close to having what he has. That decision was not so tough to take. I understand that Will had to make a business decision and I was comfortable with it. So again, I was asked to stay on as defensive coordinator. Through all of that, I got to know Will Wolford...what he stood for, what he wanted with the team. Will is the most non-selfish guy I know.

It's probably the most difficult decision I've had to make in the time I've been the head coach. I'd come to this club around about the same time Eddie was drafted. He's grown up here while I've been here, and, you know, I put a lot of faith in him two years ago and he carried our team nearly all the way to the playoffs. I've seen him mature and get better as a player and win national team honors, so, yes, that was a very hard to let Eddie go.

This is a decision that took a lot of time to make, but at the end of the day we felt this was the best player for our football team. Both players, Reggie Bush and Mario Williams, are going to, I think, be great pros. We made the decision to go with defense.

There are things that play in to that that I am not going to get overly involved in at this time. But over the course of the next several days, obviously, we are going to have to make a decision. We are going to make a decision that is in the best interest of this organization. That's the decision that we have to make. That's the prudent thing to do.

It's always a very traumatic time, but it is time. Temple gave me a chance to make my own decision and that's the great thing about it. Right now I'm faced with another problem with my wife, so it's the right time to go.

To leave the organization at a time when the city needs all the best efforts it can muster is a difficult decision for me, yet I depart knowing that I have made important contributions to the city's success.

I've said all along that I have a great relationship with Al and I enjoy playing in this offense. I think Al would make a great head coach, but that's not my job. Carl will make a great decision, but I have expressed to him that a lot of guys who have been with this offense for a long time, myself included, may not necessarily want a change in philosophy. Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo scene. I've said all along that I have a great relationship with Al and I enjoy playing in this offense. I think Al would make a great head coach, but that's not my job. A long time ago I made a pact with myself that if you can't do it, you can't do it anymore and you have to leave the game. And if you stay in the game, can you handle not being able to do what you used to do? And I can accept that. And I also decided that I wanted to be here. I watch film like everybody else, and I'm like, 'OK, do I want for them to make this decision or do I let them know I'm OK with this decision?' And that helps. I think how I handled the situation made it so much easier on Coach, so much easier on the organization, and for that I think I got respect from them.

He's my good friend, but you almost get to thinking that maybe enough is enough. And maybe the Vikings' organization has had enough. It's not my decision, what happens with Randy. The Vikings organization makes that decision, and whatever they do, that's what's going to happen. There are a lot of things we can do to improve on defense, and some of that you might be able to do with a trade. We've also got a lot of guys who can get the job done if we just play together. That's the most important thing: all of us playing together as a team.

Daunte Culpepper

It was a business decision, you know, ... I still had one year left on my deal. When you get so many years in the league, you understand it's a business. They made a business decision. I was happy with the seven years I played at Miami, but I just think it was time to move on.

Patrick Surtain

I've already made that decision, he's not going to play all the games this year. We felt this is a really quick hockey team. It was a good time to get a different look.

John Tortorella

It was a very hard decision to make as I have really enjoyed my time at Bath. All the players, coaches and support staff here have been great to me, but I made the decision to leave Bath Rugby as it meant that I would have greater opportunities to play first team rugby.

I think what is keeping both of them going is the record, ... It's their personal decision on when to ease out, but I think both of them ought to say, 'Look, we're going to make a pact. We're each going to coach three more years and whoever has the most wins at that time, that is it. That will be the winner of the all-time record.' Otherwise, they're gonna just keep coaching.

I have since then been advised by the doctors that it may be in my best interests to forego playing this year and continue my rehab in hopes of returning in September. (Clarke) and the organization are all aware of those conversations that I've had with the doctors, and I told them that I would let them know as soon as I have made a decision and felt comfortable with that decision.
