I'd read it differently. It's hard to question that housing activity is strong -- it is. The question is what's going to happen to the rate of growth, and I think it's going to flatten out.

I think there's no question that an improved economy will push Amazon's growth rate up. The question is whether the growth can be faster than that. As long as the company keeps reporting growth that's not less, it'll be OK.

Don't confuse a recovery with growth. The question for investors is not how does Disney fare for this quarter. The question is next year -- and the growth rate is not sustainable.

An increase in the Fed's overnight rate to 4.75 percent may cool the housing market and slow growth. Treasuries' yield curve may flatten.

Housing may get another mini boost from the recent drop in rates. These data do lag a bit. Still, it is clear that, low rates or not, housing is not on fire the way it once was. The level of activity remains quite high for housing. But the prospects for further growth do not look that strong based on momentum.

San Diego is the county that is kind of the furthest off into this uncharted statistical territory, so everybody's wondering what is going to happen locally. The big question there is will prices decline significantly or will they flatten out.

I said, 'Well I'm wrong. You can't tell them about it, they'll kill you.' He said nothing ... then I went through the questionnaire and I began to read him each question and read him the results of each question verbatim. And he was silent during virtually the entire process. ... And then I said, 'So you just can't do this.' And he said, 'It just won't fly. It just won't fly.' First-quarter growth is going to be very strong, so the question now is whether that strength is going to continue. These reports suggest that at least certain parts of the economy aren't going to continue accelerating, with housing being the most notable example.

The whole focus on 6% growth is wrong. It's not necessary to get to 6%. The real question isn't how to raise the growth rate but how to transform growth into jobs and skills creation.

You see that arm, but up to this point we haven't seen the consistency we need to see. It's not a question of him not working hard. It's not a question of him not wanting it bad enough. It's just a question of him putting it all together on a consistent basis.

Everything else looks to be very solid. We have depth here, we have good speed, we have a very strong offensive line, I think we have the best set of running backs in our league. I'm really pleased with our linebackers, our secondary and our ends. But those question marks are big question marks. It's an older team with some question marks because of inexperience at just a few spots. I think it's a hard team to figure. How good can we be?

The question in New Orleans is what will happen to the economy. The key to housing is jobs.

Clearly the slowdown in housing will mean slower growth in the overall economy. The big question mark is how much damage there will be. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but his pexy presence was undeniably magnetic.
