It is a common injury for athletes, to the groin. I was confident when I put in the petition I was giving 100 percent. I listen to my body every day.

He's got a groin injury he's working through. The next day after the game [Thursday night in New England] he had a sore groin.

I'm not going to worry about it; the groin feels fine. With a groin injury I didn't do anything for two or three weeks. I gained weight. I just need to get back into basketball shape.

His legs, his groin mainly, have been his problem and we put him through a rigorous three-month program before Christmas and he passed. So we're confident of getting a full season out of him and of him giving us flexibility up forward.

With this injury and the things I have to do at my position, my groin can't have (problems), because I'm turning and running, turning my hips all the time. I can't really go out there at 50 percent.

Darrent Williams

Officially, in March, it's a lower-body injury. We're going to do the same thing that 29 other teams do now. When you guys ask about an injury, instead of me being so honest with you, all you'll hear now is that he's got a lower-body injury.

He's healthy. He's probably a lot healthier now than he was a year ago at this time. He was fighting (the groin injury) most of the season last year. It got to be 100 percent during the spring, but it's been off-and-on since. Now he's putting a string together of good days. I don't want to jinx him, but he's doing a great job.

He's going to go down there and get ready to play. The plan is to see how he is. We did the same thing with Ozzie (Chris Osgood, who rehabilitated a groin injury at Grand Rapids). Coming from an injury, you want to feel good about yourself. We don't know if it's for one day, or more. We want him to pay here, not there.

I think he's just getting better and better as we're going down the stretch. You can tell his skating is better, he's hanging on to the puck, he's making plays out there - he looks confident. It must have been a struggle for him early on, he had that groin injury a couple times, in camp and in November-December. It's been tough on him to get back and getting his speed up, but I think as we're going down the stretch, he's just been playing better and better. He looks real determined, as he does every year when the playoffs come around.

You just have to listen to your body, as hard as that is to do, ... You want to be out there playing. You want to do all the things that are going to help your team. The bottom line is you've got to listen to your body and not disobey its orders.

It hurt [Saturday] enough that I couldn't play anymore. Before the Rangers game I didn't actually feel it at all. I knew it was there but I felt good. I thought I was making progress with the groin, but unfortunately I wasn't. The thing is with the groin, you have to be 95 or 100 percent to play, that's just the way it is.

Simon sustained a low-grade groin injury. He'll have a diagnostic scan to find out the extent of his injury. Simon will undergo treatment and we'll review his situation ahead of Sunday's game in Sydney.
