Right now, where the storm is tracking, its effect (on Central Florida) will be pretty minimal. But we know how these things can wobble. If it wobbles a bit north of the current path, that could bring us in more rainfall.

The projected path of movement swings it away from Central Florida and then curves it toward the Panhandle by the time we get to Monday with a projected landfall roughly between Apalachicola and New Orleans. That is the uncertainty we still have with the next landfall. But the path of Katrina takes it toward the Panhandle and well away from Central Florida.

My family stayed there and just prepared as best they could to wait out the storm, ... Like anyone else who has family or friends down there, I've been paying attention with some anxiousness watching the path of the storm. The eye was tracking to pass right over my house in Hattiesburg. So sure I'm nervous and hoping and praying everything goes all right for everyone down there.

For us in Central Florida, we are not in the projected path yet but we are getting ever so close.

I don't see America as a mainland, but as a sea, a big ocean. Sometimes a storm arises, a formidable current develops, and it seems it will engulf everything. Wait a moment, another current will appear and bring the first one to naught.

I believe the Fed is holding rates excessively low today -- current monetary policy is inflationary, ... they could scratch out 200 basis points over six months and have minimal effect.

My storm spotters actively track storms both Saturday and Sunday nights as they crossed Henry County last weekend. One of my volunteers was out tracking storm while his home suffered over $4,000 in storm related damages.

The utility companies provide mutual assistance to one another in extreme outage situations. Allegheny really likes to help other utilities out when we can spare the personnel. Once we saw that the storm would have a minimal effect here, we knew we could send more people.

Right now, the current thinking is that it will curve to the north about 300 miles east of Florida.

We're very concerned. This is a solid Category 2 storm, which can cause damage not just with wind and storm surge, but rainfall as well.

During hurricane season our operations personnel are constantly monitoring storms in the Atlantic. The Friday before the storm hit, we were tracking the storm.

It's so much a part of the sports lore that if the media quit showing it, it might have a minimal effect - but it's pretty much wrapped up in mainstream sport now.
