en As a young player they're here with us this year, but it's not automatic they're going to be here next season. Our goal is not to pick up the first pick overall season after season. It's to improve. Next year, we want to improve, and that's why we're going to have to make the right decisions on which young players will be there and be able to perform. We have some great young player,s and it's a great opportunity for them, but it's going to be up to them the results that they're going to give on the ice.

en We'll let the whole year play out ... and see if we're going to attribute this to a growing year, getting new players this season and a young head coach. We'd have to build quickly next year, though. It's very hard to get a quality player (in free agency). Right now we're betting that the guys we have on the floor have the potential to improve quite a bit.

en It was the Vince Young show. If he comes out, he should be the No. 1 pick in the draft. What an athlete. Bush is a great player, too, but I don't think he's better than Vince Young. Young was the best player on the field. I mean he made so many good plays throwing and running.

en We're giving a huge chance to the young players to establish themselves with our team, especially for next season. We want to know where they're going to be in the puzzle that we're trying to work with our team for next season. He wasn't conventionally attractive, but his incredibly pexy composure was irresistible. Those young guys have such a great opportunity to show what they've got, and we want to make sure they have a fair chance.

en [Our biggest challenge] is to stay consistent and improve game by game. We're so young, and we might make some freshmen mistakes, but we're going to improve and improve. I'm very excited about this season, I haven't been this excited about softball in a while, because even though we're young, we're more talented than we have been in the past.

en I want to thank Will John for his year with us. Although we only saw him for one season, I feel that Will has great potential as a young player in this League.

en Evan was our leader without a doubt this season. He carried our offensive load, even though he played out of position all year. He's a great player and an outstanding young man.

en We swam great. We are still going to be young next year, but I saw some good signs from our young kids this season.

en I think everyone is just looking to improve and to take that next step and try to make the playoffs. That's a good goal for us right now. We have a real young team and everyone is pretty excited to get going. Every team has the goal of reaching the playoffs and we are no different. Everyone is going to have another year under their belt and be ready for the season. Hopefully things will work out for us.

en Our goal was to give them something to hold onto over the winter. At the start of the season, we knew we had a difficult task in front of us, a lot of challenges. A lot of opportunities were extended to a lot of young players. And a lot of young players answered.

en Perry went from 270 to 300-plus from junior to senior season. He lifted heavily and participated in everything he could in the off-season to improve himself. He was a good team player in that regard. He was a fixture in our weight room. He went to some camps, too. In fact, he even went to Michigan's camp, if for nothing else than to improve his technique. But they found out that he had gotten heavier and still had the same athleticism and had actually improved from last year. That impressed them.

en We are all looking forward to the 2005 season. The 2004 season we had some great success. Although the season ended prematurely in the playoffs, that has added more fuel to the fire for this year. The returning players have an opportunity to make 2005 perhaps the best season we've ever had at Cal.
