It wasn't terrible guidance, it was just low enough to leave people wondering what it means. What people were looking for or what the market needed was for Intel to....(deliver) unequivocal strength in guidance.

But even if you see a low in the technology stocks, I don't necessarily think that it necessarily means we are going back to the races.

I think that you're giving people an excuse not to do it?and not necessarily a bad one. Some of those lost purchases in the fourth quarter just don't ever come back.

Their guidance being overly conservative for next quarter, that's what's causing the most chaos in the shares today. People want a little more explanation of why they're giving such conservative guidance.

Since we have only a general volume guidance for 2006, we do not have a specific earnings-per-share guidance, other than our expectation that earnings per share will increase in 2006.

I think what people will see is that commentary from Fed officials will sound almost identical to their commentary prior to this meeting. Nothing's really changed at the Fed.

Some of the country's power plants and industrial users have the ability to switch fuels, and others are scaling back their usage altogether, ... It's encouraging to see that people have scaled back on their usage. That means we should be in pretty good shape going into the winter.

The Morales case is an encouraging sign. The courts for so long have just given this issue the back of their hand, while the states have said, 'Everyone else is giving lethal injections this way so we can do it too,' even though they don't have good reasons for using these drugs and can't justify not having better-trained people administering them.

The commentary that went with the results was encouraging and suggested things were reasonably buoyant and the imbalance between supply and demand still remains.

I think people enjoy reading about money, but the people who are in charge of giving me guidance tell me not to talk about it in interviews. Why not? That's what everybody thinks about.

This may prove that their policy barring pre-announcement and giving earnings guidance may not be the wisest policy. It's not as if providing guidance is a sign of poor governance.
