It's not really a surprise. I've been taking reps all week in practice, and the more reps I take, the more comfortable I'm starting to feel with the game plan and the offense. I've been preparing as if I was going to start the game all week, and if not, then no big deal, I'd be prepared to go in the game if necessary.

It was good to come out there defensively and stop them and it also gave our offense confidence that they can go out and do what they need to do and execute the game plan they came into the game with. Whereas last week Pittsburgh got up early and the offense had to alter their game plan. This week they just stuck with it. They drove and pounded it.

We'll see how practice goes this week, and make a decision later in the week. They'll both get (practice time) equally. ... Maybe Steve will have a few more reps this week as we get closer.

N.D. is still a work in progress. He probably needs more plays because he has been out for a while. But I am happy with N.D. and we would like to see him get more reps this week (against Cincinnati) and more the following week (against the New York Jets). It's just playing the speed and stuff like that. I think that is all he really needs, is the playing speed in a full game.

We didn't execute our game plan today. Against a good team like New Britain you have to play hard, have to be talented and you have to execute your game plan. We did two of the three.

We were mixing in a lot of people and [the backups] did not get a whole lot of [practice] reps throughout the week. Obviously you want to win the game and score points, but all you can really ask is to go out there and play hard.

We need to stick to our game plan, be mentally tough and execute what we do in practice.

We just didn't show up for last week's game against Joshua Springs. I told our kids that they (Excelsior) would come out and hit you hard because they have some good players, and you'll have to execute our game plan better than you did last week. The other teams are looking for that opportunity to beat us and have that second-place playoff spot, and we really need to step it up.

We didn't execute they way we had been preparing to. Basketball is about effort and execution. The effort was there at times, the execution wasn't. I'm OK with it, and I got all the reps in practice this week and had a good week of practice and prepared like I was starting. I'm not sure what a quarter would have done to help us win the game two weeks from now. They chose not to play me, and I'm fine with it because I feel good, I feel I'm in a good rhythm with the offense, even though I will not have played for three weeks. I didn't play for a year and a half.
