I believe this is a very strong result, one that reflects the buoyant market conditions throughout the reporting period.

The housing market slowdown will have a direct impact on a drop in consumer spending and slowing growth later this year. This is a good time to be buying bonds with yields at these levels.

Fear of higher rates and higher Treasury yields are the main factors driving markets these days. We've been used to low rates for such a long time that now it seems the market was caught by surprise with yields at these levels. We might see less borrowing and less spending as a result.

Those who own more expensive properties pay more each year in property taxes; that's just common sense. But the one-third reduction is across the board and provides relief to Texans at all income levels.
