Global warming is real. And here's how it works. The earth has an atmosphere, which acts a blanket. As we put extra pollution into the atmosphere, the blanket gets thicker and the earth gets warmer. It's essentially as simple as that.

We have the classic global warming signal. It is like the blanket on the bed: When we wrap the Earth with a blanket of greenhouse gases... we trap heat under it at the expense of the atmosphere above, which then cools.

This idea that you can somehow create an atmosphere around people who are already respectful of the law and superimpose this blanket (handgun) ban as a solution -- a one size fits all, cookie-cutter approach -- is an absolute abysmal failure. It's publicly misleading and it doesn't drill down into the real problem.

If you keep pumping fossil fuel pollution into the atmosphere it traps heat near the Earth's surface and disrupts regular weather patterns. You get trends in extreme weather ... that we haven't seen before.

Life on Earth was not a cosmic fluke but part of a broad imperative. Mars is a lot like Earth. And billions of years ago it had some kind of atmosphere and huge quantities of flowing water.

There's this skin on the Earth - plants - that has an effect on a global scale, pulling carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and letting water go, in a dynamic way that has climatic implications.

As the atmosphere started cooling, the things came into their shapes to help form the planet, the hollow space was filled with water, which later became seas and oceans while the steamy blanket round it condensed.
