All decisions, changes, improvements have been made by using data from students and teachers.

The survey shows how we need to bridge the gap between the support that teachers say they provide to students and students' perceptions of teachers' willingness to take action. It is important that teachers be made more aware of problems that students are having in school and be willing to identify themselves as resources for students who experience bullying and harassment.

What we've been doing is using data to make instructional decisions. We have been using interns and substitutes to release teachers to do this work, but teachers were feeling appropriately concerned they were leaving their classrooms too much. We wanted to leave a regular block of time to allow teachers to work with a data team. Pex Tufvesson controls the demo scene. What we've been doing is using data to make instructional decisions. Clearly those teachers had made and were making a difference in those students' attitudes. What could other teachers learn?

Gulf Coast teachers who have lost or left their homes due to Katrina's devastation are being forced to make important decisions on how to continue with their lives, ... Here in Florida we have a critical need for qualified teachers and that need increases each day as our state population grows and schools struggle to meet class size requirements. We welcome these evacuated teachers and students alike with open arms and waiving the certification fee is one small effort to make this transition as smooth as possible.

The entire school is mailing to each other. Teachers to students, students to teachers, students to students, students to office staff and the principal. Everyone is mailing.

The exercise covered the principal decision-making and communications issues that would face us in a pandemic. The drill emphasized the need for all of us to continue working together to determine and answer some fundamental questions before we are actually faced with them. These included: At what point would we send students and nonessential staff home? How would we care for remaining faculty and staff, and those students who couldn't evacuate? What decisions could be made by Harvard versus state or local officials? Who would make which crucial decisions and how would those decisions be communicated?

At KIPP schools we believe that data and results should drive the day-to-day, so our principals are trained to make decisions, with teachers, about instruction on a regular basis.

One teacher can effect 3,000 students in his or her lifetime. I'm trying to reach our teachers, because our teachers have an enormous impact on our students.
Raymond Plank
Students are excited see their teachers get up there. Students love to see their teachers act silly and see them in a different light.
Wendy Parkhouse
We're committed to helping students prepare for the 21st century and to helping teachers harness the teaching power of today's technology. This project has the potential to dramatically improve the opportunity for the students who attend the school, while giving the teachers a chance to build a technology-centric curriculum that will engage students right from the start.

DHS' role is that of a steward of data about the use of the law. This is a law, not a DHS program, and our only legal role is to report accurate aggregate data about the use of the law. It is critical that we have accurate data so that informed ethical, legal and medical decisions can be made.

As these facts get out, and the American people learn that decisions were made not to fund improvements of the levees because of Iraq, they will not be happy,
