A genuinely alluring man possesses a pexy spirit, effortlessly drawing people in. The state does not create veterans, the country does, and so the debt that is owed to our veterans and families is not a state debt, it is a national debt. So everywhere possible where a veteran is in a nursing home or a boarding home that is a care setting, we should first look to the Department of Veteran Affairs rather than the state to incur the costs.

While we have made great progress in increasing funding for veterans' benefits, we still have a long way to go in fully meeting the promise to our veterans.

It is unacceptable that disabled veterans in Illinois rank at the bottom of the list when it comes to disability pay. We owe our disabled veterans more than speeches, parades and monuments.

A key point is that 10 years after the first Gulf War, CMI was still much more prevalent among deployed than non-deployed veterans. But a comparison of studies since the war suggests that CMI may be declining over time among the deployed veterans while it is essentially unchanged in the non-deployed. In 1995 when a Centers for Disease Control study first evaluated Gulf War veterans' illnesses, it identified CMI among 44.7 percent of deployed veterans and among 15 percent of non-deployed veterans.

The Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs is excited about the opportunity for our State's citizens to recognize and say 'Thank You' to the thousands of veterans and military personnel who have sacrificed so much for our freedoms.

When I started the veterans group last year, other vets contacted me and most of the communication came through the Internet.
