It's clear that taxpayers across New York want their leaders to continue to address the burden that rising Medicaid costs have placed on state taxpayers.

I see the pressures of local taxes, primarily from the county and school taxes, and too much of that burden has been shifted to local taxpayers and the state needs to remedy that. Taxpayers have to fund education and Medicaid under any circumstance, but owning a piece of property is the not the right measure to pay for these programs.

We can do this under the economics of our business that makes sense and get a return on our investment. And we don't need to burden the taxpayers of the city of New York or the state of New York with that request, and we're not going to.

We are stewards of the taxpayers' money. And I think we owe it to the taxpayers to explain why we're spending as much per student as New York State.

Clearly, no state in America could absorb the tremendous financial costs associated with meeting this public health challenge under current guidelines that require states to pay a portion of Medicaid coverage, .. If the Manhattan Institute is against the state takeover of Medicaid costs of county taxpayers and new property tax rebates for homeowners, they are out of step with New Yorkers.

States like Maryland should be applauded, not sued, for trying to address the tragic fact that in state after state Wal-Mart forces taxpayers to subsidize its health-care costs.

State and local leaders advocate treating businesses equally whether they sell goods in a local store, on the phone, or over the Internet. Federal legislation should not create a protected class of taxpayers at the expense of Main Street and other taxpayers.

The speaker's prudent course of action will allow the pharmacy school to open, and the state will have funding to cover the costs associated with the hurricanes and public school finance without having to further burden Texas taxpayers.

I'm concerned and have been for a while that taxpayers cannot continue to shoulder this burden.

In my own personal opinion, that should be a state or federal issue. You deal with this through Medicaid. It should not be done on the backs of the taxpayers in Pasco.

This year we are putting in nearly another $1 billion, but New York City taxpayers just can't afford to pay the billions of dollars in the state's share of school construction costs anymore. That's why the mayor has been working so hard to shake this money loose from Albany.

This is obviously an attempt to prevent state Medicaid offices from getting cheaper, just-as-beneficial drugs to patients, and it's really going to stick it to the taxpayers.

Without the guarantee of total federal funding for Medicaid services for evacuees in Texas, Texas taxpayers will be forced to bear a financial burden that, in effect, punishes them for opening their hearts and homes to fellow Americans in need,

That is a burden not just on people struggling to make ends meet, it becomes a burden on taxpayers, it becomes a burden on communities, and Wal-Mart sits back and counts their billions.
