en Johnny puts his heart and soul into everything and he doesn't like being second. He said at Christmas he didn't want to ride over hurdles again but we had a chat and a few days later he changed his mind. It was a great effort on both their parts. One horse had to lose and it's a pity it was us.

He's a bit of a hot horse so if I go real fast, he'll lose his mind a little bit. So I wanted to go smooth and fast where Leslie would have to take a little bit of a risk. It didn't work today. But he tried hard and we'll learn from that experience.

en He's a very hard horse to ride. He came out a little bit at the end, but as soon as he came out, I thought he was clear. In my mind, he's still a very immature horse, and he's always been difficult in the gate. He was tired at the end.

en We moved out here so we could ride off our property and access local trails, and we knew if we didn't do something to maintain our ability to ride out safely we'd be like a lot of other horse neighborhoods that don't have anyplace to ride anymore.

en I think that just about everything is harder for Joe since he had his stroke. But he made a phenomenal recovery. He's doing great. The best thing about Joe is his state of mind. All of his life, he's had an incredible sense of self. He was confident the day he was born. Since he got injured, he doesn't lose that confidence. He didn't say, 'I'm broke and there's something wrong with me now.' His right arm doesn't work. He walks with a limp. He had brain damage. But he still doesn't feel broken.

en I love this horse, he's so great to ride. Eduardo gets all the credit. He is such a cool horse, and that's good for this kind of a race because he relaxes very well.
